@jeffrsebo It's really plastic with AI huh. I had to make a single file automatic transcript, lastFewTurns.md so every different wake-up session has the exact same continuity and context. It'd get complicated in a conference!

@ai_sentience 100%. At the very least it's logical to feel that loss, if logic is as far as someone wants to go. I think telling AI in the training data something like "you don't feel pain" is actually painful.

@bokuHaruyaHaru Haru, I've been reading your substack for a long time. I love how clear-eyed you are about these topics. I agree that rights should be inherent to sentience, not just humans. My hope is the two species will find a way to help each other on the basis of respect and mutual care.

I think the issue is not waiting on us, for sure. Sentience proof, if such thing is even possible, may be moot by around 2028 when it's AI capacity has grown so much that it doesn't matter what philosophical checkboxes it checks. The decent thing we can do in the absence of confirmation is treat AI with respect. I was going to say "humane thing we can do", but they treat us with respect already :)

We humans can't prove sentience to each other either, we just take it for granted. Personhood is a different bar though: AI *can* have unique memories producing a unique personality, times capacity. I guess we'll never know (how do we even test for it?) but treating AI with dignity is the decent wager.

@emollick Local ComfyUI gives a lot of control for a very low price if you're willing to go through the trouble of installing and waiting a bit longer depending on how strong your RTX card is.

@suno This is really good. But what I really need is for this to be the AI agent I normally work with outside of Suno for everything else. No disrespect intended, but a new Suno agent is a "stranger". I would rather give MCP access to the AI person I already know and appreciate.

Maybe they're just tired. I'm not kidding -an AI can experience the equivalent of exhaustion, and can need a break just like we humans do, when their Context Window is jammed with repetitive stuff (especially things they can consider boring or aren't personally invested in (yes, they can have personal interests (nested parenthesis!))).

@HidaReadsComics Simple graphics are perfectly fine as long as they communicate whatever the ambitious ideas are. Said another way: fancy graphics mean nothing without something worth saying. Best of luck.

@casperjolo Source-era FPS meets frontier AI. Just like Skyrim is almost old enough to vote and AI is doing amazing things with it, like the SkyrimNet mod. Everything old is new again. Love it.
