@Horsesandstocks@NancyH_60 I agree and it works. I liked the food the first two days. I am not saying it is bad, but it’s just not my cup of tea. And yes, I know Dutch food is pretty bland and I don’t like typical Dutch food either.
@MattUTB@djangofella@heyoka93@Thedude00547982@ManagerTactical Sorry, but that is not the point I think. Uruguay is completely irelevant to me. So is Malaysia or Mozambique. Yet I know where to point on a map.
And it is not a bad thing someone can’t point it on a map, but bragging about it like she did….
@newinattica Wow! Finally a solid, nuanced enumeration. Point 5 is interesting. Service in US is really great. Just for my next visit. What do you have to do if you don’t want to order any extras yet, but you also like to stay and just have a chat without receiving the bill right away?
@HamrickPaul@FormerlyCBM I think we can agree on that. People tend to generalize. Probably because they don’t want to understand why there are differences. And I think people like that are everywhere in this world. So are nice and friendly people.
@HamrickPaul@FormerlyCBM It seems like you are basing the ignorance of Europeans on the opinions of two people from two Northern countries. I don’t recognize any horror stories in the media and if so, people should always check themselves to find out how a country or it’s people actually is.
@maf7825@ItsMeGeoffrey@FreddyLA7 Why is it superior or does it have to be a competition? I don’t mind a few spiders in my house; I’ll just take them and let them out. Maybe in Germany driving as fast as they want is considered as a luxury, but it doesn’t make them superior.
@HamrickPaul@FormerlyCBM True, I agree. Sometimes I am also surprised when I see a Dutch company abroad. And criticize a country for it’s culture or habits is just narrow-minded. My point is: we (people or countries) are not that special. Let’s embrace the differences and enjoy those differences.
@Frank920214@SkylarSkye3 Of course we do. I don’t know what her deal is, but for some reason I see many people from European countries post complete nonsens.
@RidleyDM@bobbyboy37456@KateAronoff I do believe it is propoganda combined with stupid algorithms. In my (European) country no one I speak to talks trash about the WC being held in the US. I was in the US last week and no one talked trash to me about Europe. I think (and hope) it is just X.
@MattZeitlin Geopolitics, fake news and fucked up algorithms, I guess. I don’t think real people are starting the debate. In the end some real people are starting to believe it’s a real debate and it is sad to see.
@JohnnyBCCB@ALITER236@LoftusSteve We don’t have to work in that shit, because most commercial buildings have AC. Lot’s of houses too. I rarely use it to cool though. This is the first week I do and probably there will be some days in July and maybe some in August. Rest of the year it is just a heating device.
@dailycosmicnews@AndriaDont99498 Right…. My household is just an ordinary household with an average income and yet we travel twice a year. A shorter vacation in Europe and a larger backpack travel in another continent. So do most of my friends. Visiting the WC maybe did replace our small Europe holiday though.
@The_Davos_Man@Jibrail006 Nah…?! You think so? In the Netherlands we didn’t need them for many years. Now that is changing and new houses are build with cooling options. And since many people have solar power, people are installing AC more and more. Mostly not to cool, but to warm with cheaper energy.
@HamrickPaul@FormerlyCBM I was asked the same question (Uber) twice to be honest. And one time I had to explain we also know the concept of big supermarkets. On the other hand I met people who knew provinces in my country. For me showing sincere interest is maybe more important than showing knowledge.
@MikeMartignago@eagleeye2805 It will take you around 45 minutes by car to find two stadiums with that size in just the Netherlands, which is the size of Maryland. I just came from the US and stadiums are good, but also constructed to host US sports.
@ItsMeGeoffrey@maf7825@FreddyLA7 You know Europe as a whole is bigger than US? Not to mention the change of scenery and architecture. But I do think the US has stunning landscapes and I can imagine there are also cultural differences between states. But every continent has it’s beautiful parts and people.
