Regarding the UAE delegation’s visit to Lebanon, FFA Private Bank Dubai Limited is, alongside BLOM, one of only two Lebanese banks with an established presence in the UAE. Meanwhile, I&C Bank SAL (formerly FFA Private Bank SAL) is one of the very few active Lebanese banks that is solvent and should require no restructuring—the few others likely to avoid it are essentially inactive. One might reasonably think this would be of some interest to Emirati investors looking at Lebanon.

Yet, once again, the same self-appointed “representatives of the private sector” are rolled out—many of them wheeler-dealers whose businesses depend heavily on state contracts—to pontificate, shake hands and pose for the cameras.

Meanwhile, those of us actually doing business in the UAE are not even informed of the delegation’s visit.
