A 17-year-old valedictorian, Leen Hijaz, used her graduation speech to speak for the voiceless: "Millions suffering in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, Afghanistan. Families torn apart by ICE."
The school administrator cut her mic. Told her: "If you don't stop, you're not graduating." They withheld her diploma for four days.
A border collie who reportedly had more than 1.5 millions followers on social media was stolen by a thief in China and later sold to a slaughterhouse to be killed and eaten.
Several local media reports said Chutou the border collie disappeared on 11 May while his owner and Chinese travel influencer Guo was travelling abroad. The dog was being cared for by Guo’s father.
Surveillance footage allegedly showed two people taking the dog away on an electric scooter from the house, which prompted the travel blogger to cut short his trip and return home to search for his pet.
On 26 May, Guo contacted a man he suspected of the crime and offered 10,000 yuan (about $1,500) to return Chutou, according to media reports. Guo learned that the dog had allegedly been sold for 180 yuan ($27) to a dog dealer on 14 May, according to the South China Morning Post. The dog had since been resold to a restaurant, slaughtered, and eaten, the report said.
Guo, a travel blogger from Henan province, and Choutou became internet stars after he started documenting their travels across China on Douyin – the Chinese version of TikTok.
A man in China broke down after discovering his stolen dog had been sold and eaten.
The dog, Chutou, was not a stray.
He was an 8-year-old Border Collie with a collar, a GPS tracker, and more than 1.5 million followers online.
His owner, Guo, was travelling abroad when Chutou suddenly disappeared.
Surveillance footage reportedly showed the dog being taken.
Guo then traced what happened and found out something heartbreaking.
Chutou had allegedly been sold into the dog meat trade for around $34.
By the time his owner found out, it was already too late.
The dog had reportedly been eaten.
Guo broke down crying.
To him, Chutou was not property.
He was family.
The case has caused outrage in China, with many people pointing out that pets can still be treated mainly as property under the law, even when they are loved like children.
A dog with a name, a home, a collar, and a tracker was stolen and sold for the price of a cheap meal.
And his owner was left grieving a family member the law may not fully recognise.

Imagine being trapped and surrounded by crowds who hit and terrorize you until panic drives you to jump into the sea 🐂💔 At Spain’s Bous a la Mar festivals, terrified bulls fight to survive in the water before men in boats drag them with ropes back to shore.

🇸🇬 An interesting new initiative from Singapore; under a new policy introduced in certain areas, cats will now accompany security personnel on their nightly patrols. 🐱🚔
The goal is to both protect community cats and bring a little more warmth to the streets. From now on, the safety of Singapore's streets will be entrusted not only to security forces, but also to their four-legged partners. 😹
However, the system is already facing a few minor challenges. Some of the feline officers have reportedly been caught taking naps in the middle of their shifts, while others tend to disappear without notice and return whenever they feel like it. 😂
Even so, experts believe this may be one of the most adorable public safety projects in recent years. One thing is certain: this is a system that absolutely deserves to be adopted around the world. 🐱❤️🌍😹
