In Persian language it is common to change p to f or f to p and both versions are accepted in the literature. For example: “safid” and “sapid” which means white. Therefore it is possible that pronunciation of father in Greek and English developed or evolved from the same word.
The relationship between English and Persian goes beyond father. They share the words mother, mom, daughter, and brother as well.
