jstays at yesterday’s show were all laughing when leeknow said these things bc we clearly understood it as a joke, esp given the context of the conversation and of japanese culture

we say things like, “im gunna d13” bc we’re exhausted or overwhelmed, “you’re gunna d13” bc of an upcoming exam or difficult task; the vast majority of the time, these kinds of phrases are never said with malicious intent, that’s why we understood it as a joke and thought nothing of it

死んじゃった (he d13d) is something we might say when a character in a video game d13s, when our phone battery goes empty, when a child is wrestling with their parents and their parent pretends to d13… we use and hear this phrase frequently, mostly as a hyperbole

keeknow has proven to us time and time again that he is quite knowledgeable about the japanese language AND culture; when he says such things, he does so knowing how they will be received culturally, and to us jstays, nothing was out of line, we understood the joke, and the response was what it was supposed to be: laughter
he would never say anything with malicious intent, esp about his members and those he holds dear to his heart 🤍
