New paper with @ParlCharlie. We urge the Supreme Court to heed its own warnings on legislative history. We explore how some courts misread these materials, equating them with the intent of the legislature, and we propose a methodology for the proper use of legislative history.

Timely release of my conversation with the very knowledgeable @FareedZakaria on the ever intriguing geopolitical landscape businesses have to navigate.
Admist the chaos and drama of news, I'm proud to be the first hijab-wearing woman on an official Olympic broadcast in Canada. I am acutely aware that my sisters in France do not have access to sport in the very same country I'm covering. I intend to amplify those stories i'A.
My post congratulating the new CDS who also happens to also be the first woman to become a 4 leaf General led to a torrent of toxic and stupid posts and it gives us a small glimpse of what women have to put up with online. A few elements really bothered me. 1/4
The @TorontoStar’s crime & justice team has been nothing short of phenomenal in covering the Umar Zameer trial & the succession of questions that followed Sunday’s verdict.
A 🧵 of Star stories, overseen by an equally talented set of editors which include @EdTubb & @tocudmore:
This case is a tragedy at all levels. The authenticity of Umar Zameer made the outcome predictable. @Nader_Hasan_law has also definitively proven that he is one of the best litigators in Canada with a depth of team that rivals any team in the country. Watch out for this guy.
Looking forward to reflecting on the legacy of Peter Hogg w/ a panel of @SCC_eng judges - and to celebrating a friend and colleague who was truly an inspiration! See registration details below.
