Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global has upgraded Pakistan's Long-Term Instruments Credit Rating to 'B' from earlier "B-".

To recall, last time Pakistan was in B category from *Oct 31, 2016 to Feb 03, 2019*. The upgradations brings Pakistan's rating status to effectively 8 year high.

The rating is upgraded due to stronger institutional capacity, sustained implementation of IMF-backed reforms, improved fiscal performance, and a significant rebuilding of foreign exchange reserves.

Finance Minister Meets U.S. Treasury Secretary, Discusses Economic Cooperation and Pakistan’s Reform Agenda

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with U.S. Treasury Secretary, Mr. Scott Bessent, in Washington, D.C.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister highlighted Pakistan’s journey from macroeconomic stabilization to sustainable, export-led growth, while noting the economy’s vulnerability to regional geopolitical developments.

Senator Aurangzeb sought greater U.S. support for Pakistan’s road to market, underpinned by improved access to international capital markets, higher foreign exchange reserves, and enhanced sovereign credit ratings.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral economic cooperation, promoting greater U.S. investment, and advancing strategic projects.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Meta have signed a Letter of Intent (Lol) to establish a collaborative framework for promoting youth online safety, digital literacy, and the responsible use of digital platforms in Pakistan.
The collaboration will also support open and constructive dialogue to foster a shared understanding of content safety practices in Pakistan.
Chairman PTA, Maj Gen (R) Hafeez ur Rehman, HI (M), SI, stated that through this partnership, PTA aims to promote digital literacy, encourage responsible online behaviour, and foster a safer and more secure digital environment for the people of Pakistan, particularly children and young users.
