Earlier this week, our youth advocates in Kalangala conducted a series of separate peer-led school outreaches in several schools, including Sserwanga Lwanga Memorial Secondary School, Kibanga Primary School, Bishop Dunstan Memorial Secondary School, Ssese Farm Institute, and Kibaale Primary School.

These sessions aimed to empower young people with essential sexual and reproductive health (SRH) knowledge and provide adolescent girls with skills in making reusable sanitary pads.

The topics covered during the outreaches included respect for girls’ rights and voices, seeking support and reporting sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), assertiveness, menstrual hygiene management (including proper use of menstrual products), personal hygiene, and the prevention of STIs and HIV among others.

Additionally, the sessions emphasized the importance of visiting health facilities for SRH services and information.

Last Friday we joined @eassigender under the @powertoyouthug program for the @EA_Bunge consultative meeting on re-tabling the EAC Anti-FGM Bill. The meeting brought together various stakeholders, including representatives from EALA, government dignitaries from multiple line ministries, civil society organizations (CSOs), and youth and community champions.

This is the first step in the renewed joint effort to fight FGM across East Africa. The meeting aimed to reflect on current anti-FGM efforts and collaborations, brainstorm strategies, and renew the commitment to ensuring the enactment of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Anti-FGM Bill.

The EAC Anti-FGM Bill is a crucial step forward in the fight against Female Genital Mutilation. The bill tackles cross-border FGM, making it harder for perpetrators to evade.

We are excited to join Captano events and the Deventures bar for an incredible Independence charity Gala at the time out Leisure Park - Mbalwa.

Not only are we celebrating our nation's freedom through soccer but we are taking this opportunity to prioritize sexual reproduction health health for young people in slum communities.

At the sideline of the event, our team shall be offering SRH services and information like free HIV testing & counseling, family planning services, and information, give out free condoms, and hold educative sessions on SRH led by health experts with support from our youth champions, among other medical services.

We have convened a Young Mother's Forum (YMF) at Nabiganda HCIV under our Youth Champions Challenging SRH stigma project to equip young mothers, pregnant teenagers, young fathers, and out-of-school adolescent girls with basic knowledge on safe motherhood and unintended pregnancy prevention.

The forum aims to ensure the health and well-being of both the mother and the baby during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. These practices help reduce maternal and infant mortality and morbidity. Key Safe Motherhood practices being shared include:
