@EnderSword @barstoolsports Those other games were not scheduled the same day as the closing ceremony. After the game and medal ceremony there is a closing ceremony that is at least an hour away from the arena. The Olympic officials all have to make their way there and maybe some players

Closing ceremonies get huge ratings in the US and the world. Also ceremonies are in Verona; 1 hr train from Milan

@sarahhmccrory @Kyle_Carter89 That’s only USA’s games that are in the afternoon. Other teams played at 8:30 and 10:40 am. They catered to the American audience and NBC where they have the option. They don’t have that option when it comes to the closing ceremony. The game has to be finished before then

@MatySticks @gniknayrb @DimFilipovic Definitely. It probably will never happen again. But I do think the Czechs are often overlooked. In the 2004 World Cup, they outplayed Canada in the semi finals and Canada was fortunate to win in OT. That era of Czech hockey was much better than people remember

The Czech team had a strong defensive system in 98. Actually played Canada and Russia pretty evenly in the SF and Final
