Babar Azam has been dropped.
I don’t believe in this word ‘rested’. He wasn’t in the runs.
He was seemingly perplexed.
There was an upsurge, being ostracised all ends up.

Never a natural captain, never deserving of the mantle given to him in 2019.
That he, when in prime did intimidate people, was relentless & power-centric, denied a few their deserving places on the team.
He wasn’t up to it, couldn’t really chaperon the team as warranted.
He couldn’t really develop or acquire the tactical & strategic brilliance required to make a difference.
That, he inadvertently made a cocoon around him, was seemingly inaccessible & his spectacular personal performances added to an evident arrogance & left a few bereft even enraged.
Intolerance as it is a common denominator, malice & odious comparisons left many stakeholders incensed.
That he created envy & enemies & had to bear the brunt when the runs turned away.
Greatest players in cricket went through torrid times barring Hanif Mohammad, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan & Mohammad Yousaf in Pakistan’s history had to endure a prolonged sequence of failures so has Babar.
Extra terrestrial & pressures from within, the manner in which he had been treated, leaves much unattended.
He hasn’t performed however do we really believe, the way he has been excluded from the mainstream was a sequel to progressiveness.
Regardless of what people have to say, I concede to the fact he is still Pakistan’s best batsman & unmatched, unrivalled in country’s contemporary cricket.

Scores settled, criticism deflected, so called a major scything decision taken by the new selection ‘rejection’ committee, a popular voice than being rational or pragmatic, just to provide an evidence, despite his painstaking failures

In 55 Tests 3 runs shy of the coveted 4000, he averages 43.92, in 117 ODIs while the runs have betrayed him, he averages 56.72 & in 123 T20 Internationals, the average is 41.03.

Let’s match it with the product on offer.
I still say he isn’t the victim, his is a case of self infliction still imagining to drop him midway through a Test series leaves much to be desired.
His craft, his art, his absolute mastery never warranted being treated with disdain.
Nonetheless, it’s quite in the open what has been transpiring at the back end. Happiness for the cricket passionate, the intolerant & dismay for the cricket literate, the genuine connoisseurs.
What he required wasn’t the lament but an introspection, support & confidence from the decision makers.

You do not treat rare talent with disdain or contemptuousness, you need to preserve them.
Instead of dropping or resting him, he should have been asked to decide himself.

He hadn’t been in the runs, I still maintain, he isn’t the victim, he is the culprit but still that’s how we needed to treat him.

I honestly shall be the happiest if Pakistan without Babar, Shaheen & Naseem spins England & achieve results which they stopped attaining once Babar lost his form or Shaheen failing to rehabilitate properly stopped picking up wickets.

I wish the team & new incumbents the very best. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
