The first black American architect to graduate from MIT and the country’s first academically trained black architect, Robert R. Taylor was truly groundbreaking. Born in North Carolina in 1868, he learned carpentry and construction from his father, a former slave, and worked as a construction foreman before enrolling in MIT. After graduating in 1892, he was recruited by Booker T. Washington to work at the Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama, where he spent nearly four decades. There, he was an influential educator, developing the architecture and construction trade program and inspiring countless students. He also designed and built a number of the campus’ structures, including libraries, residence halls, administration buildings, academic centers, and a dining facility.
In 1899, Taylor designed The Oaks, Booker T. Washington’s home and the Tuskegee Institute’s social center, which offered employment services and on-the-job training for students. He considered the Tuskegee Chapel, a brick and stone worship space that burned down in 1957, his masterpiece. Many of his buildings still stand today.

Most people have heard or used the term UNCLE TOM when we refer to a sell-out, but did you know that the inference is totally wrong.
The real Uncle Tom was a hero, Josiah Henson, was an abolitionist who helped slaves escape among other great things #BlackHistoryMonth
A THREAD!
Bobby Hutton was one of the original member of the Black Panther Party. After being bombed with tear gas and trapped in a burning basement, he came out shirtless to prove he was unarmed and the police immediately shot him 12 times and he died.
He was only 17 years.
-Robert James Hutton also known as "Lil' Bobby” born on April 21, 1950 and at 16-years old he became the first member and the first treasurer of the Black Panther Party. Hutton met Black Panther Party founders Huey Newton and Bobby Seale at the North Oakland Neighborhood Anti-Poverty Center, a "government-funded agency that employed local youth to work on community service projects.
On April 6, 1968, two days after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and with riots raging across cities in the U.S., Hutton was traveling with Eldridge Cleaver and other BPP members in a car. The group were stopped by two Oakland Police officers and had a confrontation. The two police officers were shot. Hutton and Cleaver fled to an apartment building where they engaged in a 90-minute gun battle with the Oakland Police Department. Some incoming bullets had also caught fire. Ultimately, Cleaver was wounded, and Hutton voluntarily surrendered to avoid getting burnt alive. According to Cleaver, although Hutton had stripped down to his underwear and had his hands raised in the air to prove that he was unarmed, Oakland Police shot the 17 year old Hutton more than 12 times, leading to his death. The Police report claimed that Hutton was attempting to run and was wearing a trench coat and his hands were not visible.

When you align your life with God there will be periods of isolation and those periods of isolation are preparation for what He’s gonna do for you. Every sacrifice you make on behalf of Him, He is going to honor!
When you’re in difficult times, don’t sit around. Do something where God can see your faith. Make plans to get well, make plans to come out of that trouble, make plans for God to show out in your life.

If your vote didn’t matter, they wouldn’t be working so hard to try and marginalize it.
