As more social media platforms die or become untenable, might I suggest a nice fountain pen and some stationery for keeping in touch with the people far away who matter most?
This weekend was a lesson in paying attention to more than the chorus for a bunch of people I know. "Born in the USA" and "Fortunate Son" are not patriotic songs. Also, "The Gambler" is a pretty bleak song.

I think it’s more patriotic to notice the flaws in your country and want better for it than to ignorantly claim its great and disregard major problems that need fixing.
On #IndependenceDay, we continue to forge a more perfect union, for freedom is the vocation of everyone who values the rights and liberties of their fellow citizens. And as Orthodox, let us remember the basis of our freedom is love— the liberation from hatred and prejudice.
