@SunDevil033@pinkheretic@KitKattas To say more clearly - forcing a dying fetus to live long enough for their brain to be able to perceive pain is monstrous.
@daleblazer@omgsidewalks KS did exactly this. They cut taxes drastically (glide path to 0) & drastically cut the state budget. Brownback called it a shot of adrenaline to the heart of the economy. It was cardiac arrest. Tax cuts don't pay for themselves and businesses don't hire just b/c of tax breaks
@Yo_Soy_Tormenta@omgsidewalks College became unaffordable when states decided to stop investing in education, bought into trickle down economics and gave tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations.
@jimbohuff@fifty_watts@AGallagherAlly Androgen Insensitivity syndrome (AIS) comes in complete and partial forms. Neurons have receptors for sex hormones and there are differences between male/female brains. It has always seemed likely that there is a neural tissue localized AIS.
@SunDevil033@pinkheretic@KitKattas It does matter though. Arguing that a woman should carry a fetus with fatal abnormalities to term/near term when it has the capacity to feel pain as opposed to an 18-22 week abortion before pain processing develop - is cruel and ghoulish.
@MatthwDayton@JessPected My friend M was absolutely different since Kindergarten. He came out to me in HS. My response was, well, duh. There were others too that came out as adults to no one's great surprise. For context - older Gen X and small town Midwest
@SunDevil033@KitKattas@pinkheretic In neuroscience, we can demonstrate that pain requires perception. Injury triggers signals that are sent to the brain- which is where perception occurs. Pain in 100% in your brain.
@SunDevil033@KitKattas@pinkheretic Also. I'm going to be clear here. Harm is dependent on perception. You can have injury without perception. But, you cannot have harm. The one who has the capacity to be harmed is the pregnant person
@SunDevil033@KitKattas@pinkheretic No. I teach neuroscience. No serious neuroscientist thinks a fetus can perceive pain at 15 weeks. "Serious neuroscientist" is carrying all the weight in this sentence.
