Really? When it comes to Scotland that’s a legal fiction supported by a lie.

There is no British monarch unless British means purely English. The Scottish Crown was ‘annexed’ to that of England (or as the HoC massages it, the English Coronation Oath ‘was extended to Scotland’), in flagrant violation of the whole purpose and supposed of effect of the Treaty and Union. (The creation of a single kingdom which required a single crown no ifs buts or maybes; Crown and kingdom are interdependent.) So two crowns remain. Which one owns the seabed? Legally the Scottish Crown, which is the legal identity of the Community of the Realm. i.e, the people not the monarch, own the sea bed.

That’s why the English Parliament had to pass an Act vesting oil and gas in ‘his majesty’ although English oil and gas are automatically ‘vested’ in the monarch as the Crown! Scottish oil and gas, 80.% of the total are vested in the annexed Scottish Crown. For the same reason Blair moved the maritime boundary of England to take part of the Scottish area. Utterly unnecessary if there were legally, and not just rhetorically a ‘single kingdom’ and a territorially united state of the U.K. Brits are brilliant at pretending to be all law abiding and all about legal authority. They are pirates.

Further proof of annexation/colonisation? Despite the continuation of the Scottish Crown, every English monarch since George I has taken a gobbledygook English invention they call the Scottish Oath of Accession (The real Oath is still on the states and still statutorily required). It’s a kind of concession to the conditions for the Scottish Crown - a crown he or she is not wearing, but administering as an English Crown territory.

Nothing exists to legalise this. There is no treaty that allows this. And in international law this is territorial alienation and a violation of a fundamental aspect of the right of self determination.

We have been fed utter bs by the British state as the fulcrum of all law, domestic and international. Expert voices, intimidating legal jargon and powerful positions substitute for clear eyed, hard headed fact and implication. In the name of God and the Scottish people when will we wake up and start comparing what we are told with what the facts, evidence and the precedents of international law tell us if we can just bring ourselves to discard the British (totally self contradictory) official constitutional narrative?

The very fabric of Scotland’s identity is being unraveled, and our people are being erased, subtly but relentlessly.

The truth is that Scotland does not need permission to leave this destructive and one-sided arrangement. The so-called “United Kingdom” is not a legitimate union , it is an imperial construct, never properly ratified as a treaty under international law, never lodged with the United Nations, & never agreed to by the people of Scotland under any democratic process.

The world must recognise that England, Britain, & Westminster are the last remnants of a colonial empire desperately clinging to power. Their use of vetoes at the UN to protect their own interests & destroy the futures of other nations & peoples is nothing short of an abuse of international governance, & Scotland’s continued captivity within this failed state is an international scandal.

That this deception has been allowed to persist without demand for proof of a legitimate treaty raises serious questions about accountability & credibility in upholding international law - the United Nations has a massive opportunity now to right this wrong for the world.

Scotland’s future is not one of decline but of massive potential. The resources, innovation, & talent exist for Scotland to thrive as an independent nation, free from the constraints of a decaying empire. The people of Scotland must now take ownership of their own destiny. The choice is clear—remain in a broken, exploitative system designed to ensure Scotland’s decline, or step forward as a sovereign nation, reclaiming the wealth, dignity, & future that is rightfully ours.

The world is watching. It is down to us & the time is now.!”

@IndyAsapScot Nice bit of writing, Catherine. But this “never properly ratified as a treaty under international law”. I see this more and more but don’t understand it. What were the Acts of Union for if not to ratify the treaty and bind both countries to it?
