@elonmusk
Dear Elon,
In these critical days, the people of Iran need internet access. Please help them stay connected as they struggle to reclaim their country from the rule of the mullahs. Stand with the Iranian people. Iran will not forget its friends.
We are proud that the @NatEyeInstitute's Diversity In Vision Research and Ophthalmology (DIVRO) summer internship program has been a key stepping stone for many trainees.
Great story about one participant: Luke Nelson (@HowardU@Columbia)

This works validates a study we published in 2021 about an in vitro #AMD model that recapitulates key cellular features of RPE pathology. Observations in a mouse model were reproduced in patient stem cell derived RPE in a masked study. Great work team! @sharmaruchi29 #ipscs
Dr. Kapil Bharti is the new scientific director of the NEI Intramural Research Program. He’s led our Ocular Stem Cell and Translational Research Section since 2012. Join us in celebrating Dr. Bharti’s new role! Read more: https://t.co/DSx8bXSYaG

So excited to share our recent @naturemethods manuscript with 3D-printed models of #AMD and the eye. This is what I call a disruptive technology. What an awesome job by our team @NatEyeInstitute and @ncats_nih_gov

Brian Brooks (@NatEyeInstitute) studies ocular development and coloboma (cause of childhood blindness).
Beautiful work: critical role of ZFP503 gene in RPE differentiation & optic fissure closure.

Researchers from @NatEyeInstitute's intramural program developed a new stem cell-based model of Stargardt disease.
First direct evidence that Stargardt-related ABCA4 gene mutations affect RPE.

@sharmaruchi29 @far_mit Our lab breaks down another dogma - ABCA4, whose mutations lead to Stargardt disease, is only important in retinal photoreceptors. Our lab shows ABCA4 is also important in the retinal pigment epithelium. New insights for gene therapy. Outstanding work @far_mit@NatEyeInstitute
What a achievement! Excellent team work and commitment to bring the product to the clinic! @sharmaruchi29 @Kapilbharti123@DavideOrtolan91@vet4fun @ thank you NEI for the support!
Congratulations to @NatEyeInstitute Intramural researcher Mitra Farnoodian Tedrick (from @BhartiLab) for receiving the Knights Templar Eye Foundation grant to help develop potential therapies for #Stargardt disease!

@NEIDirector@NatEyeInstitute @Bhartilab Thanks Dr. Chiang! I am incredibly grateful and honored by the opportunity that I have to explore and develop potential therapeutic targets to treat Stargardt disease.
Ruchi Sharma (@sharmaruchi29) and I will host an ARVO virtual Special Interest Group on Thursday about correlating genotypes to phenotypes in culture models of macular disease with @LakkarajuLab (UCSF), Ruchira Singh (Rochester), and Jennifer Chao (U. Washington).
Finally out in @PNASNews!! Thank you to @sharmaruchi29 and @Kapilbharti123 that made this work possible and all the people that contributed to the work! @NatEyeInstitute
Hey #arvo2022! Come check out my poster (F0408) on human RPE heterogeneity. We defined 5 RPE subpopulations with different sensitivity to retinal diseases. Thanks to @_BrightFocus and all the colleagues in @Kapilbharti123 lab for contributing to the work!!
