day 1 of my deep dive into @Zcash ($ZEC).
my first big "aha" moment is surprisingly simple, but it reframes everything.
the first thing i heard about zcash that its a "privacy coin".
my first thought was "another privacy coin" ? but after i started my research i now realize i was looking at it completely wrong.
the best way to understand zcash is to first understand bitcoin. ↓
zcash isn't built from scratch. it was literally forked from the original bitcoin codebase.
it has the same fixed supply of 21 million coins and the same predictable halving schedule. it inherits that core DNA of bitcoin.
but the creators, a group of scientists and cypherpunks saw bitcoin's one major, unresolved flaw:
its lack of privacy.
every transaction and balance on bitcoin is on a public ledger for the world to see.
they understood that for money to be truly sovereign and safe for individuals, it must be private.
so they took bitcoin's powerful foundation and added a layer of advanced cryptography: zero knowledge proofs.
the simplest way i can explain my understanding so far is this:
bitcoin gives everyone a transparent glass ledger.
zcash gives you the option of a sealed, encrypted envelope for every transaction.
the network can mathematically verify the transaction is valid without ever needing to look inside the envelope.
so, my day 1 takeaway is this:
zcash is a direct successor of bitcoin, built to complete the original mission of economic freedom by adding the missing ingredient of privacy.
this opens up curiosity about how this privacy actually works (shielded vs. transparent addresses, zk-SNARKs).
that's what i'm diving into next, see you tomorrow.
i've been seing $ZEC and zcash lately.
so i decided to finally dive in and check it out (dont want to be late to the party😭)
i'll be sharing everything i learn here as i go.
any $ZEC maxi out here ? lets connect
the first thing i ever did on @solana was mint an NFT.
i didn't fully understand what i was doing. i just knew it was fast, it was cheap, and something about owning a piece of something on-chain felt different from anything i'd done online before.
that was my entry point. a mint. a wallet. a transaction that settled before i could second-guess it.
on june 13th, @SuperteamDE is hosting the biggest solana event germany has ever seen. and whether your entry point was an NFT mint, a defi protocol, or you haven't found it yet, there's a reason to be in that room.
i'll give you mine ...
🧵🔻
do whatever you want. but make sure sure you never miss the @SuperteamDE solana summit
berlin. june 13.
if you've been waiting for a reason to show up to something real in the @solana ecosystem, this is it.
full breakdown of why this summit matters, who it's for, and why the room you're in on june 13 tends to matter more than most people account for.🔻
