BETA BADHAO YOJNA!
Anand Ranganathan just completely dismantled the government's mandatory E20 fuel obsession, and every single vehicle owner needs to hear this. 🚨
We are constantly sold the narrative that 20% Ethanol blending is a massive economic masterstroke.
But here is the actual reality check for the consumer:
👉 The Mileage Drop: Ethanol has lower energy density than pure petrol. You are literally paying the exact same price for less power and lower mileage.
👉 The Engine Killer: Forcing E20 into older, non compliant engines causes severe corrosion and mechanical breakdown. The government hits its target, but you pay the massive repair bills.
👉 Coercion Over Choice: A free market thrives on options. Instead of offering E20 as a choice at the pump, it is being shoved down our fuel tanks via a mandatory backdoor tax on efficiency.
Economic progress requires choice, not state coercion.
Watch @ARanganathan72 lay down the absolute scientific facts on why the hidden costs of E20 far outweigh the hyped benefits. 👇

After E20 petrol was made compulsory... I want to know are we paying for 800ml of petrol and 200ml for ethanol...??? It seems like we are still paying for 100%petrol...if yes then its the biggest Scam India has probably ever seen....Just want to know because with ethanol blending prices should have dropped... @PetroleumMin
Petrol adulteration has reached alarming levels. First came ethanol blending, and now it feels like fuel stations can mix whatever they want. Consumers have no transparency and no way of knowing how much ethanol is actually being blended by OMCs. This is a disgraceful situation for millions of vehicle owners.
@PetroleumMin, your ministry has failed to ensure transparency and accountability. Policies that create uncertainty for consumers while risking vehicle performance deserve serious scrutiny. The people of India deserve better than this.
Why is everything about ethanol so secretive?
If the government is so confident about ethanol as the future fuel, shouldn't it rather be educating the public with scientifically backed research reports?
Instead, it wants to hide the reports, naming it as "classified".
I've worked my ass off to buy the car that I currently own which I bought 5 years ago (May 2021). Everytime I was between jobs with no income, ensuring the car EMI got deducted on time was the top most priority on my mind. The emotional connect that me or anyone has with their car is something you can't quantify. A small dent or scratch on it, I used to feel bad for an entire day. And today, I'm being FORCED to DESTROY my own car with my own hands due to this mindless #Ethanol blending policy of this man called #NitinGadkari. With 'Zero Ethanol' petrol hardly available in any fuel station and costing almost 170 Rs per litre wherever rarely available, I'm forced to fill my car up with this E20 Petrol and my car is literally choking and dying a slow death. I could see a major drop in mileage and AC performance ever since this Ethanol nonsense was introduced. I kept quiet for so many months hoping this nonsense would be rolled back after the whole backlash but now with E30, E85 and even E100 being introduced, I'm speechless. Even if you buy a brand new E20 compatible car today, it's already incompatible with the E30 and above fuel blends that are being forced down our throats.
I'm not an active supporter of any political party but have always been a staunch opposer and critic of the Congress. But dear @narendramodi ji, if Mr. @nitin_gadkari is not shown the door and this Ethanol nonsense is not rolled back, I already know who I'm voting for next and it's NOT the BJP.
Thank you for the attention to this matter.
👏👏👏 hats off @BPCLimited for fact check about ants and responding with such rigour.
Have you done some analysis about the impact of E20 fuel on the engine of non-E20 compliant cars as well…
BPCL has examined the claims circulating on social media regarding ants congregating around vehicle fuel filler caps and their alleged association with E20 petrol.
Fuel-grade ethanol used for petrol blending is produced through fermentation and distillation processes that eliminate residual sugars from the final product. Further, fuel ethanol contains denaturants, which are repellent to insects.
Upon blending, the characteristic hydrocarbon odour of petrol remains dominant over any inherent ethanol odour.
In addition, ethanol-blended petrol exhibits lower fuel vapour formation compared to conventional petrol. As a result, there is no identifiable attractant associated with E20 fuel that would cause ants or other insects to congregate around vehicle fuel caps.
Therefore, claims suggesting a link between E20 fuel and ant attraction have no scientific basis.
The claims being circulated on social media are baseless and are not supported by scientific evidence.

@HardeepSPuri@PetroleumMin@Secretary_MoPNG@MORTHIndia
@BPCLimited Thanks for your clarification.
Please also clarify this simple query...
"Whether Ethanol Blend E20 Petrol can be used for Pre-2023 Model Cars on Road without affecting Engine/ Mileage ?"
@PetroleumMin@HardeepSPuri@nitin_gadkari
Saying again and again, boycott the Auto industry altogether till the govt. and auto lobby kneels down. I just have two demands!
- Remove the lifecycle ban from vehicles. Fitness test should be mandated to remove the polluting vehicles instead of well maintained vehicles as well just because it's 10-15 years old.
- Different fuel types should be made available. A choice should be given to citizens.
Let's break their backbone! Together we can.
Most Indian vehicles were never designed for E20, yet Modi ji's govt & Gadkari ji keep pushing towards E30 and even E100.
As an Indian, I pay full price for my car + taxes on it, pay road tax, pay tolls, pay Centre + state tax on every litre of fuel, pay parking charges… and in return I get $h¡tty infrastructure and now even $h¡ttier forced ethanol-blended fuel that was never meant for most cars on the road.
If I want pure petrol, I should be allowed to buy it. Period.
This ethanol experiment on the common man & their vehicles has made us lab rats.

What's happening in this country, @nitin_gadkari ji?
You are introducing some fancy mix of fuel every day without any ecosystem support?
Why is there no buy in from insurance companies or manufacturers?
Use of E20 can lead to claims rejection. I don't want to use E20. Do I have a choice at the fuel station?
Why are we being taken for a ride?
India silently made E20 fuel mandatory at every petrol pump in April 2026.
No public vote. No consumer choice. No warning.
Most cars on the road weren't even built for it.
Here's everything you need to know — and what to do. 🧵
