The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and its partners are hosting a one-day virtual stakeholders meeting within the education sector in Nigeria.

The primary objectives of this meeting are to raise awareness about the HPV disease burden in Nigeria, provide accurate information regarding the HPV vaccine including its benefits and safety profile, and to outline the rationale behind its introduction.
Additionally, the meeting aims to identify potential roles and responsibilities of education stakeholders in ensuring the successful introduction of the HPV vaccine in their respective states, as well as to secure specific commitments from these stakeholders.

Participants in this meeting include Honorable Commissioners of Education, Chairmen of State Universal Education Boards, Directors of School Services from State Ministries of Education, Chairmen of Parent Teachers Associations (PTA), Chairmen of Private School Proprietors, and State Health Education Officers.

This initiative spans across 21 states in phase two of the introduction, namely Anambra, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Gombe, Imo, Kaduna, Katsina, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Ondo, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara.
