1⃣How does the INJ Community BuyBack work?

The Community BuyBack is a monthly onchain event that allows anyone to take part in Injective’s deflationary mechanism.

Participants commit INJ, and in return receive a pro rata share of the revenue generated across the Injective ecosystem. The INJ committed is then permanently burned, reducing the total supply of INJ.

This process rewards the community, increases scarcity of INJ, and aligns long-term value with ecosystem success.

2⃣Why was it built?

The motivation for upgrading from the Burn Auction to the Community BuyBack was to replace an outdated winner-take-all model and replace it with one that is more inclusive to active users of the network.

In an effort to ensure the event did just that, eligibility criteria for participation has been added.

3⃣What makes an address eligible for the whitelist?

Starting December, the INJ Community BuyBack whitelist criteria is determined based on users who interacted onchain with Injective ecosystem dApps, the Injective orderbook module as well as Ninja Pass holders. Specially, we analyzed addresses that had interacted onchain with Injective from September through November.

4⃣Why have an eligibility criteria?

This accomplishes a few goals:

🔸Ensures active community members have first rights to entry

🔸Aids in sybil resistance, preventing malicious actors from gaming a community-oriented event

5⃣How can I guarantee eligibility into the BuyBack?

Qualifying for any particular month WILL NOT automatically qualify you for the following month. For example, you may meet the eligibility criteria for December but that does not mean you will be selected for the January criteria. If it did, gaming opportunities would be obvious.

The best way to maximize your odds is to participate onchain across the Injective ecosystem and continue to be an active member in the Injective community. The Community BuyBack will always seek to prioritize and reward loyal and active ninjas across the community.
