I tried to report a crime in Berkeley once, and they straight-up told me I couldn't because the bike path I was on wasn't under Berkeley police jurisdiction. They weren't sure who I should call. But they were certain that it wasn't something they were responsible for.
Believe it or not, I had someone slow down their car and throw a bottle at me from the service road while I was on the bike path along the waterfront. They were cursing at me that I was a white MFer and should die.
I called CHP and the county Sheriff, and they were just as unhelpful, pointing the finger back at the Berkeley PD. And that is when it occurred to me that what they were doing was making it hard to report a crime. I just wanted a record of it in case other law-abiding cyclists who ride properly in the bike lane would also be safe and free from any harassment.
Anyway, congrats, California.
One of my biggest frustrations with MAHA under Secretary RFK Jr. has been the failure to tackle the US addiction to agricultural chemicals. All the necessary means of weaning America off glyphosate and atrazine exist already. They're natural, they work. HHS should be running pilot studies on methods like this right now, with a view to deploying them on the largest possible scale.
@xwanyex I honestly don't think it is that hard to date as a conservative guy if you are bringing something to the table and don't act scared of your own shadow when discussing these topics. I think most women care more about dating a winner than dating someone who mirrors their politics.
@followdusT He's such a talent that I think it was a little bit of an indictment on Jame that they couldn't slot him in somehow. Then he leaves the team and looks better immediately.
people love saying "history will not judge us kindly" as if history books aren't just like "Genghis Khan epicly killed 40 million people. what an absolute legend"
I cannot believe we have got to the point where a ball lightly touching the tips of someone’s hair is being measured by a Snickometer in order to disallow a goal.
The ball’s trajectory and spin were not affected at all.
The offside law was created to stop goal-hanging - it was never intended to be an exact science.
It was never created so that one day artificial intelligence could measure toenails offside and use a snicko to check if someone’s touched a ball.
It was created to stop strikers from man-marking goalkeepers all game.
VAR was meant to be reserved for clear and obvious decisions.
We used to understand that football is better and more entertaining when goals are scored.
That meant that for offsides: in case of doubt, the benefit was given to the attacker while in-line was always onside.
Now we’re using 3D generated AI technology to check toes to the millimetre and extreme microphones to measure minuscule decibels with the aim of disallowing goals and ruining football as a spectacle.
Do they ever ask if we want these changes, do they market test any of it?
What an extra time awaited us for the #Portugal v #Croatia game, unfortunately we will never get to see it thanks to the madness that VAR has descended into.
This is almost exactly wrong.
The Civil Rights movement very famously centered on peaceful marches, white and "Negro" leaders in suits sitting down to talk after agreeing not to fight, etc.
The idea that some tiny, marginal group - gays, rad-fems - can actually just TAKE rights from a far stronger majority...absent sympathy...is just bizarre.
Balogun was in on goal. He beat the defender and was about to score.
No red card. No penalty. No yellow card. No foul. No review.
The bizarre thing is that Fox Sports showed a replay that began just AFTER the defender let go of the arm. So weird. How could the officials miss this? And how could the TV crew miss it as well? @USMNT
No joke, this is why Americans havent completely bought into soccer.
My Achilles would literally have to be stuck on the bottom of this dudes cleat for me to carry on like that.
This joker got the call, stood up, and played the rest of the match. And Balogun gets the rest of this match, and the next, a win or go home off the pitch.
Clown stuff
This is the core of almost every left wing argument.
(1) Define the normal AS abusive, pathological, a form of mental illness, etc.
(2) Claim that, since everyone is a mentally ill abuse victim, the Revolution must come and our wicked society end.
"If we count spanking, circumcision, and sex while drunk, NINETY-FIVE PERCENT of people have been the victims of felony-level abuse linked to family and dating customs under PATRIARCHY!!!"
I don’t know what people imagine you do in a short term service conscript military, but it isn’t what you think
Draftee armies work very different from volunteer forces. Since the vast majority of people aren’t there willingly, and are short terms of service, soldiers have little military value. As a result, they end up getting hazed, harassed, and brutalized by the more senior conscripts (guys who have been there 12 months). They’re also worthless in military terms, but the military doesn’t care because the draft gives them more bodies than they know what to do with, and since recruitment is guaranteed the institution has zero incentive to actually make service attractive
Unless you’re at war (usually not), everyone’s just bored out their mind. The military looks for opportunities to waste time. So you get guys “standing guard”, painting rocks that were painted last week, trimming hedges by hand around the headquarters depot, and the officers’ mess always has lots of stewards
Conscript armies are dominated by shirking - never volunteer for anything, stay under the radar, do the bare minimum. A zero motivation workforce
Huge waste of time for the people forced into against their will, counter productive for the military itself. Makes absolutely no sense
I've said this before: a lot of radfems and such should be nuns and priests.
If you are a high-disgust asexual person, with a strong moral code and an idealized picture of what sex relations and bidness should look like - totally non-functional in the real world but sometimes useful as a guide - there used to be a place for you.
This is actually for the benefit of the school. For example, when my daughter was visiting Vanderbilt they explained that you should only provide your scores if they were 1580 SAT or 35 ACT or above. They report these to US News & World Report for their college rankings. They tell you that if they are lower you shouldn't provide them and they promise it won't impact their admissions decision.
