@andyjey @ACQuinney @GeorgeMonbiot Almost all soya fed to ruminants has the oil extracted first because the oil can be toxic to ruminants. If soya oil wasn't available it would probably be replaced with palm oil which the by-product unlike soy would mostly be wasted.

Soya produces much more meal than oil, so by weight much more of the soya produced is fed to cattle even though the purpose for growing the crop may be oil production, the oil is used for cooking, plastic production and bio fuel

Nice bit of ecocide by @Southsomersetdc yesterday. this patch of grass was covered in two types of orchid yesterday untill they came and mowed it. For some reason they've mowed all but one of the orchids but left a couple of patches of daisy's.
