@_TheMizzouTiger 5th option: still undecided. If weather pattern sticks around, disease will probably be heavy again, but crop will keep getting smaller anyway. Hard to spend more $ on an already small crop and too cheap on the back end.
@_TheMizzouTiger Dad bought a flood ravaged 40 after 93 and had it logged. I was only 11 years old, so I don’t remember what all they cut or what prices were, but I do remember him saying, that one big ass walnut tree made our down payment back!
@_TheMizzouTiger My grandpa always said if loggers are on a farm it’s either getting ready to sell or just sold. Proved right twice in the last 5 years within a mile of home. Loggers left and for sale sign went up. So be ready to make the neighbors nervous. Lol
@JoshTaggart4 You guys can’t catch a break up there. I’m close enough to watch them all go by and drop a little, but you constantly get 2-5x what we get.
@_TheMizzouTiger I think the rain we’ve gotten the last 36 hours has saved a BUNCH of stands around here. Some I’d say still aren’t perfect but good enough to make it work. Maybe a few spike-in spots, but overall much better looking today.
@_TheMizzouTiger I just text this to my group of farmer friends earlier, I don’t like working on Sundays, but the good Lord gave me a few good days of rest this week, so I’m running today. Went to church with the fam this morning and will eat supper with the later tonight.
@CowsnRedbirds Talked to a neighbor Sunday who had been setting some new posts to fix a stretch of fence. He said the same thing, powder dry all the way to the bottom.
@PatrickHeizer@CBKimbrell@AgroNationalism While I don’t disagree wholly with your stance, if you think that a landowner who recently purchased their land for top of market value is going to “repurpose” it for public recreation or “rewilding”, instead of something that turns a profit, you have another thing coming…
@benjaminaustic More so my old man laughing at my expense. I’m sure I deserved it! Week or so before that he got himself stuck in a snow drift and had to call me to come pull him out. Pretty sure I was still giving him a hard time about that!
@bmreadel Quick count of 252 that are physically mounted on a wheel and on/under a vehicle or piece of equipment. Not counting any spares or olds just stacked or laying around. Ugh.
@FarmingBD@_TheMizzouTiger@ottoscholl@MOFarmBureau I intend to check out MoFB as well. Our BCBS went up 24% for fam of 4 is costing me 27k this year. We’ve looked into the Christian health share programs and talked to some friends that have experience with it, might go that route for half the price of BCBS.
@_TheMizzouTiger Was crusted good here til mid day then got really greasy. I was trying to clean up field edges with skid steer and was spinning out everywhere. Had pump probs on my bulk tank, finally fixed and hope to get some on before there’s a big spring rush on getting gas.
@grainsmanesfarm USDA report makers have to either be incompetent or corrupt. If their report is factual, they’re incompetent since it took until 1/26 to figure out how much got planted spring of 25. If what they report is false, then they’re corrupt.
