@GarryJms you can believe that a couple planes can carry chemicals that seed clouds, but somehow cant imagine the engines that push the plane through the sky by dumping hot chemicals out the back have any effect at all... the thousands of flights a day... every day... for generations...?
@Mango_peopel@yangyubin1998 and why we cannot build our way out of the hole we dug.
the only force on this planet with a proven track record of moderating the climate is life itself.
on this earth day, humanity needs the humility to stand out of life's way.
This earth day should be a moment of solemn reflection on our total failure to achieve any of our goals for meaningful action.
Hope is earned through effort and subsequent change, not marketing.
50 years of inaction; 50 years of exponential ecological decline and parades
@jessicawins Funny how people can believe that a single plane seeding clouds can cause this, but all the planes in the world, dumping enough co2, h2o, etc to push hundreds of passengers through the sky, are totally safe and don't cause climate change.
@EliotJacobson This is not "good time" news, so, apparently, it's not worthy of attention... I imagine this is what it feels like to be put in a straight jacket and shot at while the ones on the trigger beg "why isn't he smiling?", while reassured that it's mental illness and keep firing
@GeorgeActon5@mikestanislaw Ah right, because the way to fix the problem caused by burning fossil fuels is to burn more in less efficient engines b/c as long as you're personally comfortable, there's no problem. Got it.
@IPRTropicUpdate@mikestanislaw Or, the entire east coast goes out... which begs the question, if this stuff keeps getting worse, faster, how much worse until the damage is too extreme to restore power between storm events?
This is after warm weather, so expect mass die offs of wild species and even some livestock... and then fires from all the dead stuff in the spring.
Like we're trying to create an unending wildfire season. Still, no one seems to care all that much.
As you can see the pattern is very active over the next 10 days with cyclonic flow and strong shortwaves in abundance. Arctic Air will enter the northern Plains as storms pivot through and around it. We will have not one, but two 970's mb lows this week into the central USA so expect 2 blizzards with SEVERE sides heading into the weekend. Expect some major disruptions to life and travel with this hyper pattern. Stay safe all!
@WxBrianD And this is how the economy is INSIDE the climate, and why it doesn't matter how expensive it would be to try and fix it; without power, we have no commerce, no heat, and only the fuel that's locally stocked. Amazing people still think that it's not worth $ trying to avoid.
@n4hpg@ryanweather Who... cares? These are two people who got famous for reading the research. They're not climate scientists, they just read what the climate scientists have to say. Weird that people give celebrity, power, when celebrity is chosen by the rest of us
@wharfplank@ryanweather When you picture an apple in your mind, do you see anything at all? Can you describe the apple? Can you cut it in your mind and see the inside?
@FabiusMaximus01@ryanweather It's both. Everything outside of your body is inside and subject to the climate. The weather is part of that, but so is crop survival, disease, economic collapse, and all the other things that don't happen when the weather is seasonal and the climate is stable
@FabiusMaximus01@ryanweather Someone gives you a box of hand grenades and says "there's a dud or two in here" and the first two you take out are duds. Does that make the next one more or less likely to be a dud?
You're playing the risk backwards.
@FoxNewsMom@ryanweather Just because it's bad, doesn't mean it isn't real. How are you explaining this away like it's nothing? You guys keep changing your story about whats going on, but how is this being something out of our control (sun etc) LESS bad than something we cause and can fix?
