In a horrific crime this morning, the clerical regime publicly executed two defiant protesters, Amir-Hossein Safari and Abolfazl Sepahi, in Isfahan, Iran.

By carrying out these medieval public hangings and relentlessly executing Iran’s youth, this religious dictatorship desperately hopes to stem the tide of rising public anger. However, these atrocities only harden the resolve of Iran's rebellious youth to overthrow this bloody regime.

Once again, I urge the United Nations, human rights organizations, the EU, and member states to forcefully condemn this atrocity. Immediate, effective action is required to halt the regime’s killing machine and save political prisoners on death row, especially 8 other young men facing imminent execution in Isfahan.

International silence and inaction are seen by Tehran as a green light to escalate its killings. The regime's record of atrocities must be referred to the UN Security Council, and its leaders brought to justice for crimes against humanity.

Systematic Executions of Political Prisoners in Iran
Dear colleagues, friends, and members of the international human rights community,
It is with profound sorrow and deep concern that SOAR -Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief, Buenos Aires Chapter, brings to your attention a humanitarian crisis unfolding in Iran.

We are witnessing systematic state-sanctioned executions of political prisoners on an alarming scale, echoing the horrors of 1988.

RECENT EXECUTIONS:
This morning, Iranian authorities publicly executed Amirhossein Safari and Abolfazl Sepahi, two young men who participated in the January 2026 anti-government protests in Isfahan. They were hanged in Alikhani Square as protesting crowds chanted "Shame on you" in attempts to stop the executions. Security forces attacked the crowd; videos circulating on social media document clashes and gunshots at the scene.
Safari and Sepahi were among 12 protesters sentenced to death in the "Alikhani Square" case. Two others from this same group, Erfan Esfandiari and Gol Mohammad Mohammadi, were executed on July 19, 2026.

Earlier this year, we mourned the executions of:
• Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani (July 2025) – charged with the spurious offense of "waging war on God" for their association with PMOI/MEK

• Hamed Validi (45) and Mohammad Nima Masoum Shahi (38) (April 2026) arrested May 2025, tortured during interrogation, convicted in sham trials

• Mehdi Khanaki (July 2026) executed for PMOI membership and participation in January protests

THOSE FACING IMMINENT DEATH:
The crisis extends far beyond those already executed. At least 15+ political prisoners have been executed in recent weeks alone. Dozens more remain on death row, including:

• Arghavan Fallahi (25 years old) – Arrested January 2025, spent 5 months in solitary confinement, tortured, sentenced to death in July 2026 for supporting PMOI/MEK

• Mohammad Javad Vafaei Sani – Iran's national boxing champion, now facing execution for his political beliefs

• Isa Chari and Amir-Hassan Akbari-Monfared – sentenced to death last week on charges of PMOI membership and protest participation

• Five additional prisoners have been informally informed by prison officials that they face execution

THE PATTERN OF SYSTEMATIC VIOLENCE:

These executions follow a consistent, deliberate pattern:

• Secret transfers of prisoners between facilities
• Systematic torture during interrogation
• Sham trials under the notorious Judge Abolqasem Salavati, known for harsh sentences
• Swift, merciless execution without mercy or due process

ECHO OF 1988 MASSACRE:
Today marks the 38th anniversary of the 1988 massacre, when approximately 30,000 political prisoners were executed in a matter of weeks. What is deeply alarming is that state media, particularly Fars News (affiliated with Iran's Revolutionary Guards), has recently published editorials lauding the 1988 massacre as a "successful historical experience" and openly advocating for similar actions against current detainees.

The families of those currently on death row fear we are witnessing the early stages of a new wave of mass executions.

THE FAILURE OF INTERNATIONAL RESPONSE:
The inadequate international response to the growing number of political executions in Iran is fuelling a culture of impunity. Without immediate, forceful action from the global community, Iranian authorities will continue these atrocities with impunity.

URGENT CALLS FOR ACTION:
As an organization founded to protect vulnerable lives and uphold human dignity, SOAR calls upon:

✊ The United Nations and international bodies to publicly condemn these executions and demand an investigation
✊ World governments to apply maximum diplomatic and economic pressure on Iranian authorities
✊ World leaders to speak out publicly and immediately, silence is complicity
✊ Human rights organizations to amplify these voices and document these atrocities for future accountability

اعدام در ملاعام، آژیر خطر قیام برای نظام و نمایش وحشت مطلق بیت ولایت از انفجار اجتماعی است. اصفهان امروز نفس‌هایش را حبس کرد، اما قلبش هم‌چنان می‌تپد. نفس شهر در گلوی دار گیر کرد؛ اما این حبس، نه خاموشی، که بغض و فریاد فروخفته‌ای‌ست که به زودی خواهد ترکید.
رژیم با این طناب‌ها، تنها ترس و استیصال خودش را برملا کرد و نشان داد که روح #قیام هم‌چنان زنده است. هر #اعدام علنی، آتش زیر خاکستر را شعله‌ورتر می‌سازد. خون ابوالفضل و امیرحسین، سوخت حتمیِ آتشِ سرنگونی است.

دژخیمان رژیم آخوندی در یک جنایت هولناک دو شورشگر دلیر #اميرحسين_صفرى و #ابوالفضل_سپاهی را صبح امروز در اصفهان در ملأعام سر به‌دار کردند.

Reza Olia incarnait l’un des plus nobles et des plus rares exemples d’artistes combattants, dont le nom demeurera vivant et gravé à jamais dans l’histoire de l’art iranien.

Sa fidélité inébranlable à ses principes et son attachement sans compromis aux lignes de démarcation de la révolution démocratique du peuple iranien contre le chah et les mollahs étaient unanimement reconnus par les membres, les compagnons et les sympathisants de la Résistance, et faisaient la fierté de tous.
À ce titre, il fut véritablement un maître et un guide pour toute une génération de jeunes artistes.

Ce jeudi, lors de la réunion officielle de la Commission des #droitshumains du Sénat italien, j’ai exposé la situation extrêmement préoccupante qui sévit en Iran et rappelé la responsabilité des pays européen, notamment de l’#Italie, dans ce domaine.

A l’aube de ce 22 juillet, Mehdi Khanki, membre des Moudjahidine du peuple d’Iran, âgé de 26 ans, a été exécuté par les bourreaux du régime des mollahs. Recherché depuis le soulèvement de janvier, il avait été arrêté le 10 février à Karadj.
Son arrestation ainsi que les tortures particulièrement violentes qu’il a subies avaient été signalées, le 1ermars, à la Rapporteuse spéciale des Nations unies et aux défenseurs des droits humains.
Il faut fermement condamner les exécutions successives d’insurgés et de Moudjahidine du peuple combattants de la liberté, en particulier des manifestants du soulèvement de janvier 2026.
La poursuite de ces exécutions signale à nouveau la continuité du soulèvement du peuple contre au fascisme religieux, ainsi que de la peur du régime devant l’explosion de la colère populaire.
