Four military officers, each deployed in various regions across Bangladesh for election duty, have expressed skepticism regarding the official voter turnout figures for today's election. They have raised doubts that even 5% of the country's eligible voters participated in the polls.

According to these officers, the military was advised to maintain a low profile at the voting centers to avoid controversy, with instructions to remain on standby as a rapid response force if at all needed.

Additionally, the officers alleged that the Kapot app, designed to transmit voting data to the Election Commission, experienced multiple freezes throughout the day. Given these technical issues, they suggested it might be premature to accept the Election Commission's preliminary figure of a 28% voter turnout as accurate.

So, the Awami League’s candidate from the Feni-3 constituency is Mr Abul Bashar. But did you know that he didn’t clinch the party ticket on merit but needed a helping hand from India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)?

Mr Bashar struck a deal with RAW for Tk 15 crore ($1.5 m) for the ticket. And on the 23rd of November, he gave a Tk 1 crore ($100 k) pay order to one AKM Barkatullah, the proprietor of a business in Baitul Mukarram, as advance. Intelligence sources have confirmed that Mr Barkatullah is involved with hawala (money laundering) racket. Upon receiving the advance, on the 25th of November, an Indian intelligence officer sent him a message on WhatsApp to congratulate him, most definitely for the nomination.

Another candidate for Chuadanga 1 constituency Dilip Kumar Agarwal who failed to secure a nomination from the @albd1971 travelled to New Delhi yesterday for a day (ticket attached) to meet an influential @BJP4India politician so that Bangladesh’s premier Sheikh Hasina awards Dilip with the Awamileague ticket by 17th December. To make his case strong, Dilip share his resume with multiple Indian ruling party politicians highlighting his philanthropic activities for the Hindu community.

Sources confirmed, Dilip Kumar Agarwal & his wife Sabita Agarwal obtained citizenship of the Antigua and Barbuda investing $ 250k back in 2016. Bangladesh’s constitution doesn’t allow candidates with dual citizenship to run for the parliament.
