According to his lawyer, Nasser Abu Odeh, Dr. Abu Safiya is being held under harsh conditions, including restricted movement and limited access to adequate medical care. His appearance reflected a visibly deteriorating physical condition.

Through his lawyer, Dr. Abu Safiya delivered a message to the court:

“I am a paediatrician. My duty has always been to provide medical care to patients, the wounded, and the most vulnerable people in Gaza. I carried out my work in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles. My detention is arbitrary and unjust. I call on the court to order my immediate release.”
