Hmm… many things dey happen.

This is completely HARAM. In Islamic jurisprudence, embezzling or stealing from public funds is known as Ghulul, and it is one of the heaviest sins a person can commit.

When a worker inflates a project cost from N5 to N20 and pockets the N15 difference, that wealth is pure poison. You are not just cheating an anonymous government office; you are stealing from the entire public.

On the Day of Judgment, a regular thief has to settle accounts only with the specific individual they robbed. A public embezzler has to settle accounts with the millions of citizens whose shared commonwealth they pocketed. The big problem is; how many of them will forgive you and let go?

This is why I laugh when the Muslims amongst them run to Hajj or Umrah. The people who told you to go for Hajj or Umrah are only compounding your problem. It is to make your cries and sorrows more on the day of accountability.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) warned us that any flesh nourished by unlawful earnings is most deserving of the Fire. No matter how normal or normalized this corruption becomes in our country, a Muslim must protect their soul and refuse to touch it.
