@Speak2Coach @JLeroux33 @mattyfeld612 They expanded the meaning of candidate, which means any student grades 8-12 is now a candidate, making it impossible for a coach to coach both AAU and HS. For those coaches who need to supplement income, they can’t do it through coaching both. It is no longer a 50% rule.

@tritondboyle @mattyfeld612 Yes! HS coaches would not be able to coach any athlete in 8th -11th grade in the off-season since they are all candidates. This is an overreach by the MIAA. IT would make sense if they said less than 50% of the HS team could come from the club team the coach is involved with.

@CoachBahry @mattyfeld612 It really isn't 50/50 because any school age student from 8-11 is now considered a candidate. So 100% of the players are now candidates on the club team.

The rule would prevent club team coaches who also coach high school from working with students in grades 8–11. Coaches would need to choose between club or high school coaching .
