It’s with a heavy heart we share that two of our drivers were killed by gunmen today in South #Darfur, #Sudan. Three other ICRC staff were injured.
The ICRC's priority is to support those most affected by this tragedy, in particular the victims’ relatives, and colleagues.
"One of the most painful things is when you walk through the hospital, and the children ask you if everything is going to be ok..."
Amid the deafening sound of explosions in Khan Younis, our colleague @nanoninoto tells us about the situation in the European Gaza Hospital 👇
When #ambulance officers turn into pieces while they’re on duty it says it all about this #conflict.
We condemn any attack on healthcare workers.
May the souls of these heroes rest in power.
@PalestineRCS.
🚨Today our team began carrying out a multi-day operation to facilitate the release and transfer of hostages held in Gaza and of Palestinian detainees to the West Bank.
This will include the delivery of additional, much-needed humanitarian assistance into Gaza.
💔 There are no words to describe how heartbreaking it is to lose a colleague. We are all mourning our friend and colleague, Abdellatif. May he rest in peace.
For those of us who knew him, he was Abu Waleed. I also called him Al Fāris فارس (the cavalier) as we used to go horseback riding together in #Gaza. A loving colleague, a friend, a committed humanitarian. Rest in Peace brother, you and your family members. We will miss you much.
@CICR_fr@FatimaSator
I spoke to @BBCWorld about the importance to get a more sustainable, regular aid to get into #Gaza. Medical staff, surgeons, also need to get in.
Big thanks to @sultantweets who sent this picture from #Syria 😊
Full of inspiration after meeting the amazing Dr. @phumlambongcuka at #WD2023 and on #NelsonMandelaDay. Such a leader and role model for me since I started working on the global south's legacy to women's human rights
Just arrived in Kigali, #Rwanda to attend the #WD2023 as part of the “Young Leaders Program”🎉🎉 @WomenDeliver
Thrilled to meet #GenderEquality champions from around the world !
See you there ?
The crisis in Sudan is spilling over borders: nearly 160,000 people have fled the Darfur region into Chad.
ICRC's @FatimaSator speaking to the BBC's Newsday this morning 🔊
Catch @FatimaSator , our Spokesperson who will be chatting to @MphoKSithole on @Newzroom405, at 10:30AM TODAY about our intermediary role which led to the release of 125 soldiers following an agreement with both parties in Khartoum.
"Taking sides in conflict is a natural impulse. It is also something that my organization, the @ICRC , cannot do" @ICRCPresident essay in the @nytimes :
The @ICRC's neutrality allows us to help people suffering in conflict.
Not everyone needs to be neutral, but nations need to support the space for humanitarian neutrality.
Because when the world takes sides, we side with humanity.

✈️🇸🇩A first @ICRC plane landed in #Sudan today with medical kits enough to stabilize 1,500 patients.
Africa Director @PYoussefICRC says more needs to be done, as ICRC to send a second plane carrying more medical supplies and emergency personnel.
