@QuyetPawz @That_Sky_Noodle And cancelling a month before the convention would have resulted in us having massive penalties refunding attendees, plus people getting burned for buying airfare or planning. They wanted us to run the con despite covid.

@QuyetPawz @That_Sky_Noodle The Hyatt fought us on cancelling the convention, and wanted to wait a month before the con to decide if cancelling was the right idea. They did not appear to care about attendee health and safety, only the money.

We lost one of our long time directors, Glaide, this year as well. We've experienced some tragedy on our end on top of covid and the pandemic.

@RestrainedRaptr @_Yewon_ There are multiple issues which contributed to it -- having to skip 2020 and 2021, our hotel fighting us to cancel the con, uncertainty as far as the market, and the death of one our directors. We've been hit fairly hard this year.

@That_Sky_Noodle There's a lot of issues, such as the Hyatt fighting to let us cancel during covid, the death of a core staffer, and some other issues.

2020 has been a rough year — events around the globe have been cancelled and pushed back to protect attendees from getting sick and furthering the spread of the virus. Unfortunately, FAU 2020 now joins that list and we are announcing the con's cancellation.
