Shaping the Future: New Programmes for Nation Building

The Maldives National University has officially announced three new programmes that will help strengthen the nation's healthcare workforce and support the evolving needs of the Maldives.

The newly announced programmes are:
• Bachelor of Science in Paramedic Sciences
• Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (Honours)
• Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours)

These additions reflect MNU’s ongoing commitment to expanding educational opportunities, developing skilled professionals, and contributing to national development.

The Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology is proud to host the Robotics Hackathon 2026, bringing together talented students to design, build, program, test, and demonstrate autonomous robots capable of navigating a maze.

Held from 18–20 June 2026, this exciting event challenges participants to tackle the Autonomous Maze Solving Challenge, applying their knowledge of robotics, programming, electronics, and problem-solving in a real-world engineering environment.

Throughout the hackathon, students collaborate, innovate, and compete while developing practical technical skills and creative solutions. The event serves as a platform to showcase ingenuity, teamwork, and engineering excellence as participants work to overcome complex challenges through technology and innovation.

Speaking on the topic "Maldivian Resort Architecture: Towards the Preservation of a Modern Heritage," Mauroof drew from over four decades of expertise to reflect on his professional journey and advocate for the urgent preservation of early resort designs as vital cultural heritage.

MNU, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies hosted a four-course Asian lunch experience for students from Villa International High School. Students were served a specially prepared menu featuring Asian inspired dishes and beverages. In addition to exploring Asian cuisine, the experience provided students with the opportunity to gain insight into food presentation and hospitality service standards.
