Kicked off the day by chairing a review and assessment meeting with Heads of Department on the ongoing community engagement within hotspot Counties and especially as we gear up to the official launch and release of Human-Wildlife Conflict (HWC) compensation for Financial Year 2024/25 by H.E. the President. We also evaluated the progress of the Public Participation for the review of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act (CAP 376) that is underway across the country.
Later my colleague PS for Tourism, Mr. John Ololtuaa and I, joined CS @rebecca_miano as she appeared before the National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Tourism and Wildlife for the consideration of the Budget Estimates for the FY 2025/26. Present were Heads of state corporation and officials under the purview of the Ministry. Our submissions were guided by the fact that we take great cognizance in safeguarding Kenya's precious natural heritage while prioritizing a balanced approach that supports both thriving ecosystems and the livelihoods of communities living alongside wildlife.
