After Jesus tells the parable of the sower, He makes this statement: If you don't understand this parable, how shall you understand any parable.

So true, every time I see someone with a jacked-up parable interpretation, it always points back to not understanding that one parable.

The seed sown is the Word of God
The Word of God is the word that can exalt you to blessing and life.

As it is with all the other parables.
The talent/the treasure/the minas/the gift/stewards of: the thing that can exalt you to blessing and life, can hence only be from God.

If you are gifted as a great piano player, fantastic.

But can it exalt you to blessing and life? No, then neither can it be the talent Jesus is speaking about.

Can money exalt you to blessing and life? Not a chance. So it cannot be what the parables are speaking about.

A good steward makes use of the word of life by believing it.

The virgins with no oil (without the Holy Spirit) have not made use of what?

The thing that can exalt them to blessing and life: The Word of God. The Word of life.

Is America a Christian Nation?
America is not a Christian nation. Now, for those of you who are still listening, let me explain. But first, let me say, I am not writing this to piss people off, even though I know it will; but I am writing this to declare the truth, so if you are interested in the truth, at least hear a matter before you decide.
I am not going to get into all the traditional political arguments about this that you may have heard. Because I am well aware that 9 of the 13 colonies recorded in writing that they believed in Jesus Christ, that's great. But the problem is, there is no such thing as a Christian nation (or colony), at least not according to the flesh.
You see, God has never judged according to the flesh. Let's start by looking at Abram. Abram was a “heathen” when God came to him and said get you out of this country, and away from your family, and from your father's house unto a land that I will show you: and I will make from you - here it comes - a great nation!
I am not going to go through the entire story of Abraham, but what do the scriptures say about Abraham? That He believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
What the scriptures do not say is that because Abraham was Jewish (according to the flesh), it was accounted to him as righteousness. The nation that is spoken of here is about a unity of faith, where He will be their God and they shall be His people.
In Romans 4, Paul recounts how David in the Psalms describes the blessedness of man:
6 Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputes righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
But after this, he asks a question, does this blessedness come upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision?
An interesting question, because if the first is true, that it comes on the circumcision only, then it is according to the flesh and not of the spirit (or one who believes). And Paul knew that the Jews (who are called the circumcision) would certainly answer, only the circumcision.
So, he asks about Abraham: How was it then reckoned (to Abraham)? When he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
And he received the “sign” of circumcision, which was a seal of the rightness of faith that he received while being yet uncircumcised.
That he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are NOT circumcised.
Earlier, I used the term heathen to describe Abram when God first came to him, and it's really a fancy word for “ungodly”, which Paul addressed verses earlier, speaking of Abraham, saying, Now to him that works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that does not work but believes on him that justifies the “ungodly”, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Paul is proving the scriptures that it was never according to the circumcision of the flesh, but the circumcision of the heart, that one is justified unto life.
So, when God says, I will make from you a great nation, it's not a nation according to the flesh but the spirit.
An identity in the flesh will always divide, but there is unity in the faith of Jesus Christ. Which brings me to Ephesians 2, where we can see how God gathered both the circumcised (who had confidence in their flesh) and the uncircumcised (who were excluded according to the flesh).
11 Therefore remember that in times past you who are Gentiles according to the flesh were called uncircumcised (and unclean) by those who were circumcised in their (corruptible) flesh by (man’s) hands;
12 And at that time you were without Christ, and aliens with no citizenship in Israel, and estranged (without knowledge or share in) the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God (believing you were orphans) in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who at one time were far off are made near by the blood (that ran out) of Christ.
14 Because He Himself is the (one that brought) unity (and has made peace between Jew and Gentile in conquering the death that reigned over them), whereby He made both (those who were near and those who were far) one (new man), and has broken down the middle wall of separation that was between us contained in the (confidence of corruptible) flesh;
15 Having abolished (the body of death) in His flesh, (which death brought) the hostility (of our carnal minds toward God’s way unto life), (and whereby He destroyed) even (that which was working death in us by) the law of commandments (through the carnal mind thinking that life was) contained in (the keeping of) ordinances; so that He could in Himself make from the two (who were both perishing in death) one new man (in immortal flesh and bone), so making peace (and unity);
16 So that He might join us both back together unto Himself in (the unity of) one body (flesh of His flesh and bone of His bone) through the cross, having destroyed death (in the flesh), and the hostility thereby:
17 And (now He has) come preaching that peace (that is found in the unity of the faith) to both you who were far off and to them that were near.
18 Because through Him (this one new man) do we both have access by one (and the same) Spirit (which raised Him from the dead) and has joined us both in the union (of one body) to the Father.
In Galatians 6, Paul speaks about this new man, saying:
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.
Peter declares in 1 Peter 2:7-10 that it is those who believe who are a royal priesthood and a holy nation, holy means sanctified and set apart unto life.
What I am trying to persuade you of is that from the beginning, God was never interested in establishing a nation according to the flesh, but only according to the spirit, and the promised “seed” of Abraham is not seeds like many but one, the Lord Jesus.
So, the only Christian “nation” is not a nation according to the flesh or physical land in this world, but one that rests upon the shoulders of Jesus Christ and His incorruptible life.
