Over the course of my career, I've participated in a number of efforts to deliberately build product ecosystems. It's insanely difficult to pull off.
What I've never seen—until now—is a firm deliberately destroying an existing product ecosystem. I can't comprehend it.

Because Christmas was on a Sunday, this year we effectively have Boxing Day as a US holiday. What a wonderful tradition it would be to start in this country—not for shopping or anything commercial, but with nothing to do but to be with loved ones, those who mean the most to us.
