Turns out the Mariners could have won the division by going 15-7 in that finishing stretch against the 97-loss A’s, the 100-loss Angels and the 104-loss Rockies (plus 3 games w/Texas). They went 10-12.
Honestly, there’s really nothing more serendipitous than the Mariners celebrating 50 mostly-bad seasons amidst the backdrop of their worst stretch of ball all year, it’s all very Mariners
Since 2022, the Mariners have acquired Luis Castillo, Dom Canzone, Ryan Bliss, Randy Arozarena, Justin Turner, Eugenio Suárez, Josh Naylor, and now Taylor Ward at the trade deadline.
The biggest prospects they’ve given up in that span — Noelvi Marte and Edwin Arroyo — haven’t panned out in the majors.
The M’s have improved at the deadline in each of the past five seasons without mortgaging their future. Regardless of how you feel about the front office, that’s a difficult line that they’ve successfully walked.
Shout out FIFA. I think we can all agree FIFA is a great organization that always does the right thing and in no way is this about it directly benefiting USMNT
