Opinions along this line show a clear disconnect between those who use React only vs. those who don’t use React at all.

It’s easy to assume what makes sense for you makes sense for everyone because who cares about those who don’t use the same framework as mine?

But - Vite is framework agnostic, vendor agnostic, and we can’t go down that slippery slope. What if tomorrow we are going to add another 5mb for a Rust Vue compiler, and next week another for Svelte, Solid, and Astro? One can argue React is the most popular so it deserves special treatment, but where should that line be drawn? Why NOT other frameworks?

Vite is downloaded 12 millions a week, every uncached download consumes bandwidth and CI time. 5mb might not mean much for an individual end user, but it can result in meaningful difference at scale. If there is a way to optimize it, we should try that. It’s ironic that people complain about node_modules size while at the same time dismissing size optimization efforts.

I haven’t been doing this a lot until lately, but AI can be such a good design partner. I have a Claude project with all the context of my current project, and I can chat with Opus 4.6 about it anytime on my phone.

In the past I always capture inspirations in a backlog in Google Keep so I can do proper research on it later. Now I just chat with Claude whenever the bulb lights up.

It doesn’t always come up with the best idea on its own, but it’s able to conduct research very fast, explore a wide variety of options, and list the tradeoffs to give me the necessary information to nudge it in the right direction - and honestly, that’s probably the only thing I am truly good at: intuition and taste on API design. AI amplifies my impact in the parts where I really matter and gives me a 10x leverage on the final results.

how many IT experts do you have in ireland? in italy? in france? in brazil? etc

You can only find a limited number in the country, then the others are cherry picked from the rest of the world

True the irish dream is a house with the front and back garden, but in a big capital that is growing like this, we should use more vertical space, still balancing with parks and playgrounds
