@CDoombeard yeah something about this just feels so off. That said, Gossip Goblin with his sci fi short films 100% pulls it off (woodnuts, the patchwright). But he uses actual human voice actors, lots of post processing, and so on to elevate the AI video.
@BenjaminDEKR The advantage of them is 'free' power. Until 2 or 3 years ago, the idea that we'd run out of power was ridiculous. Now datacenters are putting enormous pressure on the grid. I'd personally much rather see SMRs everywhere than spacenters.
it's crazy that people don't understand why Valve enforces price parity between platforms. Valve extremely generously lets you generate steam keys and give them to people who buy on your storefront. Without parity, you could undercut steam, use their services, w/o paying a cut.
@Aelita_LL step 1. List game on steam for $100.
Step 2. List game on your store for $10 and give out steam keys for it to those who buy there.
Step 3. Freely use all of Steam's features without paying for it.
Step 4. Wonder why this rule exists.

@TimSweeneyEpic this doesn't change the fact EGS is atrocious in every aspect. Abysmal UX, abysmal social features, abysmal customer protection features, abysmal mod features, etc. Your garbage storefront failed because the users HATED it. Other storefronts like GOG thrive. EGS is ass.
@MoshiMoshiMoan it's gotta feel good cracking open a beer next to the bbq, knowing some euro cuck is locked up in american prison with tyrone as a cell mate
@MoshiMoshiMoan 4 years is a fucking insane sentence for swatting. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see it. Just surprised, given the state of our justice system where they give rapists probation
@astropol0 sounds exactly like what just happened to grok. Enshitification is here in full swing. Consumer markets will probably collapse and it will all be b2b. Just the AI utopia I imagined, where AI is used to wring money out of companies, and we get nothing
@i2cjak they basically are frozen already. We hit the plateau on transformer architecture, and cramming more shit into the prompt only goes so far. At best it's another 5% improvement, and that's optimistic
@crowdeacon Valve could operate at a loss, but over time that is not sustainable. This hardware situation probably isn't going to get better for years. You'll very likely see similar price hikes once inventory at Sony/Msft/nintendo goes down
@mysteriouskat this is essentially how we learn to code. We learn patterns and how to problem solve, not specific solutions to random problems. That said, in math there are formulae that are extremely useful to know, such as various trig identities
