Candidate Bob Ferguson ignores long-term violent crime stats.

Mr. Ferguson claims violent crime was down in Washington in 2023. I don't know what his crime figures for 2023 alone show, but according to the FBI, the trend in violent crime has gone up significantly in Washington since Ferguson became Attorney General.

Ferguson says he's more worried about "hate crime," even though hate crime prosecutions (as opposed to hate crime reports) are quite rare. And convictions are rarer still.

Vehicle theft is up, and he should be concerned about it. But even that should be given less attention than violent crime. Hate crime should be somewhere well down down the priority list. It's not much of a problem here and never has been.

ENCAMPMENT FIND: Wednesday afternoon, Tim Emerson with homeless outreach group We Heart Seattle(@weheartseattle) was scouting an area along the East Duwamish Greenbelt near the border of SODO and Georgetown. He found a forklift reported stolen from a United Rentals(@UnitedRentals) lot this past February. It's worth $150K! Still unclear how it ended up in this heavily wooded area in a homeless encampment. It was basically on the edge of a hill and could have easily rolled off into busy traffic along I-5.
The company thanked We Heart and towed it out of the heavy brush. Once again, Andrea Suarez's(@weheartfounder) crew going above and beyond for the community. Another only in #Seattle moment.

Glad I showed up because in the process, I also uncovered another crisis in the woods. There are dozens of homeless people living in shacks and tents in this part of the city. There's also a constellation of encampments under Washington State Dept. of Transportation(@WSDOT) property. Garbage, drug paraphernalia, and human waste all over the place. Totally insane, 3rd world stuff. Why is this being allowed? Working on that part of the story. #KingCounty

EXPLOSION OF ENCAMPMENTS: Far-left activists are blaming capitalism for the homeless crisis that seems to be spiraling out of control in America, especially in blue cities. Elected officials are doubling down on failed "housing first" policies and trying to build their way out of the problem.
