David Friedberg: California’s “Billionaire Tax” is a Trojan Horse to Go After the Middle Class's Private Assets
@friedberg:
“The reason they're calling it a billionaire tax is to make it easier for people to vote for it, and sign up to this entirely new tax system that they're proposing to put on all Americans at some point, and for the first time ever degrading our private property rights.”
“Forget about how much wealth you have, forget about how rich you are, forget about the term billionaire, millionaire, whatever it is.”
“We're creating, or proposing the creation, of a new tax system that allows the government for the first time ever to come in and audit everything you own.”
“All the jewelry your grandma gave you, the value of all the couches in your house, the value of your car, the value of all your stocks and bonds, and the government can come in, and for the first time, look through the veil into your personal property.”
“And say, ‘Here's how much all this stuff is worth. I'm charging you a percentage of that. That's what I need to get paid.’ And it doesn't matter that it starts with billionaires. What matters is that we're giving the government the right to look into our private property and take a percentage of it every year.”
“The total net worth of billionaires in the US is $8 trillion.”
“The net worth of the US, the middle class, and everyone else is $170 trillion, compared to $8 trillion of the billionaires.”
@chamath:
“They need a way to open the door so that they can go after the real honey pot.”
“The real honeypot is not 200 people.”
@friedberg:
“Just so everyone understands the real goal of this is not to tax billionaires, because there are other ways to tax billionaires.”
“Charge them a capital gains tax if they borrow against their assets that they haven't paid capital gains tax on. Very simple, that can resolve this.”
“Another thing you can do, you can raise the capital gains tax rate. Sounds unpopular. I don't agree with that, but that's another way to deal with this, which is to take the capital gains tax rate from 20% to 30%. You could do that.”
“The real goal of this is to create, for the first time in American history, a private property asset seizure tax. Because they're going after the $170 trillion, not the $8 trillion that the billionaires have.”
This wasn't murder.
Renee's death in Minneapolis is tragic.
But see it for what it is, not what you want it to be.
You can hate ICE.
But blocking officers then speeding off in a 2-ton vehicle with people at your bumper is irrational.
She rolled the dice. Sadly, she died.
A woman was set on fire on the train in Chicago by a man with 22 prior arrests
Meanwhile, JB Pritzker says his state is safe and he doesn’t need the National Guard.
We shouldn’t have to live like this.
When George Floyd died, BLM organized riots nationwide that killed 25-40 people, injured 900 cops & caused $2 billion in damages
When Charlie Kirk was assassinated, people organized prayer vigils & millions of dollars were raised for his wife & 2 children
We are not the same
🚨 Breaking news out of Virginia, and it’s the kind of news that should make every Republican’s heart race with pride!
The numbers are in, and they are stunning: conservative, Republican-leaning counties are shattering expectations in early voting, leaving Democrat strongholds in the dust.
In Dinwiddie County, turnout is soaring to a jaw-dropping 82%.
Goochland is not far behind at 72%.
Hanover—rock solid conservative territory—is holding strong at 62%.
These aren’t just numbers on a page.
They are proof of a movement, proof of energy, and proof that the Republican grassroots is more alive and determined than ever.
Now let’s look at the other side.
Democrat-heavy regions, the very places the Left always counts on to deliver them big margins, are lagging embarrassingly behind.
Norfolk City is sitting at just 43%.
Charlottesville is at 42%.
And in some areas the numbers are cratering as low as 31%.
That’s not momentum—that’s apathy.
That’s a warning siren for Democrats, and a victory march for Republicans.
And what’s driving this surge?
Many are pointing to the powerful inspiration of Charlie Kirk.
Even after his tragic loss, his message is echoing in towns, counties, and communities across Virginia and America.
Kirk’s legacy of bold faith, unapologetic conservatism, and relentless dedication to mobilizing young people is firing up voters in ways that pundits never thought possible.
He told people to get off the sidelines, and guess what?
They listened.
This isn’t just about numbers—it’s about energy, direction, and spirit.
Every ballot cast in Dinwiddie, Goochland, and Hanover is a reminder that Republicans are not retreating, we’re advancing.
The Left can host all the rallies they want, plaster slogans on buildings, and push media narratives, but at the end of the day, it comes down to voters showing up.
And in Virginia, Republicans are showing up in force.
Momentum is real, and it’s ours.
Democrats know it too—that’s why they’re nervous, why they’re already scrambling to explain away their weak turnout.
But no spin can cover the truth: Republican America is wide awake.
Virginia is proving it.
And Charlie Kirk’s spirit is fueling it.
We’re not just voting.
We’re building a movement that refuses to back down, refuses to be silenced, and refuses to hand our country over to apathy and decline.
This surge is the beginning of something bigger, and Virginia is showing the nation exactly what happens when Republicans unite, rise up, and make their voices heard.
Now is the moment.
If you live in Virginia, get out and vote.
Bring your neighbors, your family, your friends… make sure every single conservative voice is heard.
Turn this momentum into a landslide that cannot be ignored.
Virginia is leading the charge, and the rest of America must follow.
We owe it to Charlie.
We owe it to our country.
And we owe it to the generations yet to come.
Last week, we brought my dear friend Charlie Kirk home one last time.
Today, we return to Arizona to remember Charlie and honor his sacrifice. May he eternally rest in peace, and may God watch over Erika and their beautiful children.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE 🚨
@RepMTG is using her campaign fundraising to enrich her daughter Taylor Greene Robinson, who she has funneled over $113,279.09 in “staff payroll” from her campaign funds since March of 2024 even though the daughter lives out of state in Yoakum, Texas.
According to FEC records, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene @mtgreenee has paid her daughter Taylor Greene Robinson $113,279.09 over the last 17 months under the description of “staff payroll” and $12,500 for “fundraising commissions” even though her daughter lives in Texas in a house that she and her husband Silas Robinson closed on in April of 2024 according to real estate records reviewed by @LoomerUnleashed.
How can MTG justify sending over $113,000 of her campaign funds to her daughter who doesn’t even live in DC or Georgia?
The FEC reporting data confirms Taylor Robinson is MTG's daughter, further proving that MTG is funneling over six figures to her out of state daughter who is not an in state staffer. This is corruption, and it’s the same type of corruption MTG claims she stands against in politics.
This is just another MTG facade, like MTG’s over-the-top fake pro-MAGA act.
How do the good people of Georgia feel about their member of Congress funneling six figures to their daughter who lives out of state in Texas?
The median income in MTG’s Congressional District GA-14 is $71,533.
Her daughter has received that and much more just because her mom thinks she can funnel money to her kid and pretend like her daughter is an in state staffer.
MTG’s out of state daughter who lives in Yoakum, Texas is getting funneled more money from her mother’s campaign coffers than the average voter in MTG’s district makes all year. This is disgusting corruption and an abuse of campaign funds.
An FEC complaint should be filed over this abuse of campaign funds.
MTG is the new @RepMaxineWaters.
