A Plea to the Pi Network Core Team

Dear Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis @nkokkalis, Dr. Chengdiao Fan @Chengdiao, and the Core Team @PiCoreTeam ,

First, congratulations to Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis, Dr. Chengdiao Fan, the entire Core Team, and all Pioneers on the launch of Pi Network’s Open Network. After six years of dedication, we have built something groundbreaking—a decentralized revolution that has defied the odds. With over 70 million Pioneers across 200+ countries and regions, Pi Network has become a force in the crypto space.

However, as we celebrate this milestone, many Pi Ambassadors now face the loss of their unverified Pi rewards—coins they worked tirelessly to earn. In less than 24 hours, all unverified Pi will be forfeited if referral members have not completed KYC.

The Reality for Pi Ambassadors:

1) Pi Ambassadors helped grow the network, promoting Pi to family, friends, and colleagues—without financial incentives, only belief in the vision.
2) The whitepaper never stated that unverified Pi from referrals would be lost if those members failed KYC.
3) Long delays caused many referral members to lose access, give up, or assume Pi was never launching—factors beyond Ambassadors’ control.
4) Now, many Ambassadors stand to lose the majority of their hard-earned Pi, despite following the original rules.

A Fair Solution:

To balance fairness and network integrity, we propose a 3-year lock period for unverified Pi instead of outright forfeiture. Pi Ambassadors were instrumental in Pi’s growth. Their efforts should not go unrewarded. We urge the Core Team to reconsider before these coins are permanently lost.

I visited the Mandhry Mosque, which is the oldest mosque in Kenya, and was shown photos and drawings that showed an unbroken pattern and tradition of religious practices unchanged from 1570, when it was built, to today.

If you go to a mosque today, the way they remove their footwear before entering the holy ground, perform ablutions, kneel, bow, rise, pray, chant, and divide themselves according to gender has NOT changed in 1400 years.

Meanwhile, how you behave in church this year is even different from how you behaved last year, because your pastor, GO, or papa has had a new revelation. Or your Pope in Rome, and Archbishop in London, have passed down a new edict permitting what was not allowed last year. You do not adjust your behaviour to your sacred book. Rather, you want to adjust your Scriptures to your behaviour.

If you want to understand the meaning of stability, study Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Christianity, Egyptian Coptic Christianity, and Islam. Even where Paul in 1 Timothy 2:12 clearly stated that "I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet", you find many churches in flagrant disregard of this command.

You wonder if their version of Christianity is like fashion, which changes over time. You do not just wake up and worship God how you like. No. You worship Him how He told you, through His prophets, that He wants to be worshipped.

Islam as a religious is not entirely different from the doctrines of Christ. Look at the 5 pillars of Islam faith, compare it with the directives of Christ, you see no difference. If the world practice these faith like it is supposed to be, we'd be living in paradise. Unfortunately, institutions, organisation and personalities have risen to corrupt these faith. These corrupted practices are practiced in the mainstream and seen as "woke". But they don't change the fact that God doesn't change neither is he a author of confusion.

For instance, the early Church had no denomination, they gather, worship and assist each other in their cities. But you see the proliferation of denominations and sects, all claiming to be called by God. God cannot be deceived nor mocked.

How can I explain how easy it is to get detached from reality when you are in a senior position in government, without appearing to excuse it?

First, you are so consumed about what is happening inside government that you don’t have time to think about what is happening outside government.

If you assume that senior government officials have time to follow Twitter trends, you are mistaken. Most have their social media accounts handled by aides who decide what to bring to their attention. Even what they decide to bring to your attention is heavily curated and coloured by their own interpretations.

Most government business is still handled through paper files. So, you spend HOURS each day treating files. Many are speculative proposals to do one thing or the other for you. You junk must of them. Some may be interesting and you ask that they are offered an appointment.

Then there are things you are asked to approve. You need to treat these with caution because an approval can land you in jail. You send for people and ask questions. You need to meet with others and triangulate what you’ve been told.

Then there are letters. You may get 300 every week. Only you can direct what the official response should be.

Then there are petitions. Nigerians are excellent petition writers. Many are frivolous but you will only know when you investigate. Investigating means meetings and files.

Then EFCC and ICPC may invite you about one frivolous petition or the other. When they kept inviting me monthly, I kukuma gave them an office with all our files to just check things by themselves, instead of going to their office monthly and spending the entire day each time, not knowing what you’ve been accused of this time.

Then visitors. If you run an open door policy there are tens of people waiting to see you everyday with one problem or the other. You may need to refer them to other people. There are people you must see. Abi if a Minister comes to see you or your Minister send someone to you, won’t you see them? Or someone is sent from the Villa. Or it’s the traditional ruler from your village or an old classmate, won’t you see him?

Then your boss or the SGF sending for you, sometimes several times a day.

Then events in the Villa, conferences, seminars and workshops and circulars say you must attend. Loads of them! If you don’t attend, rumours will start that you may have joined the opposition!

Then Committees that you are mandated to serve on. Load of them!

Then travels. Sometimes, your name is put in a list for some events that are nothing to do with you. You are asked to accompany your boss or to represent him and read a speech somewhere. If you have a Board, that is another level of complexity.

Every weekend, there is an event that you must attend. Loads of them! The President is launching something. Or somebody’s daughter is getting married.

Then there is the National Assembly. They will send for you or tell you they are coming to see you. You can’t refuse.

With everything I’ve said, I haven’t talked about the time to do the actual work o.

You may find time to read the papers or watch Network News but they never say what is going on in the minds of the public.

Of course, all the while, all your staff are telling you how wonderful you are and why you should ignore “noise makers.”

Before you know it, you are totally disconnected from reality. If you are lucky, you will have a wife or mother that will slap you occasionally and tell you that hat is going on in the real world. If they are the type that enjoy the trappings of power, forget it.

That is why you must make a deliberate effort to go to markets, enter taxis and Keke, queue in banks and public hospitals and ask people questions just to get a dose of reality.

One of my areas of interest in governance is in the limits of federal power.

You’re Minister of Health but the bulk of the public healthcare systems that impact Nigerians the most are subnational.

Minister of Education but quality of primary and secondary education largely determined by States and LGs.

Minister of Housing but land ownership and use (and urban planning powers) are primarily in Governors’ hands.

Minister of Power but the industry is now largely privatised, plus mandates for key energy sources (gas and water) belong to other Ministries.

All of these while also negotiating relationships with powerful, quasi-independent agencies that (on paper) are under your oversight.

We need a complete rethinking of Ministerial office and power and expectations. Ministers themselves have a lot of expectation-management work to do. Before you’re held exclusively responsible for what should be a shared-responsibility matter. Or what may not even be within your mandate.
