Just a reminder:
if you're relying on classes alone to communicate state, rather than (also) using native HTML or ARIA attributes (e.g. disabled, or aria-pressed), you are not effectively communicating state to all users.

It's been a while since I did a ramble, and as i've been on a bit of a Semantic HTML binge lately, I have some things to say!
Semantic HTML, it matters and it's important for creating a functional website.
Accessibility: hard and costly to add afterwards. Easy to incorporate if you make it a requirement before designing. Eleven #a11y lessons from the trenches by web developer Manuel Matuzovic.

TIL: You can easily grab all HTML form data like this:
var data = new FormData(document.querySelector('form'));
This gives you key/value pairs that are ready for an AJAX call. Handy for those doing plain JS and HTML apps.

One of the most valuable design lessons that HTML taught me is the concept of semantics—describing what something *is* before attempting to describe what it looks like. Turns out that properly defining the semantics of your design language is fundamental to design at scale.
