This time 1 year ago, we concluded the first cohort of the OC-X @opencampus_xyz accelerator. 🤯👀🚀 time to sit and reflect:

What a crazy f-ing year. 80+ edtech founders, millions of $EDU financing deployed, 20mil learners, a crazy lineup of experts and mentors from iTalki, IKEA, Netflix... pinch me.

OC-X was the first Web3 education programme I built. And I don't mean "build" in a loose sense of the word - I genuinely got my hands dirty on this.

@hellowillfan and @vel0xcity let me loose and I built
✨ a 6-week programme getting cohorts of 10 founders across 5-8 timezones in the same Zoom room
✨ a module bidding system matching up founders with their preferred workshop and experts (with @airtable as the backend lol)
✨ 20 modules (now it's at 60!!) of content, from how to scale your instructor pool to business defensibility to good ol socials
✨ everything from slide decks and calendaring systems down to messages to be sent to remind founders to send in their pitch decks.

(I'm in the midst of learning to better talk about & flex the work that I do so I wanted to share some reflections from my time building OC-X... this is terribly scary and I'm feeling a bit cringe, bear with me 🥹)

This is what I learnt building OC-X:

People matter - find the people that don't care if the chicken comes before the egg or the other way around; they know you'll get a good farm going together. Some people that come to mind here @Mo_Ezz14 @pavankat @harryzhangs @ankraj2 @Feld4014 that I've gotten to know through this journey & whose work I greatly admire (mostly because I know I can't do the same things they do!) 🫶

Impact is more than metrics, but metrics help - "feeling good" isn't good enough justification for decision making, but data alone doesn't tell a complete story either. Grant governance is no joke (shoutout to @kittyvo_ for setting up the OC-X grants framework), but transparency balanced with clear storytelling helps everyone get on the same page. 👑

Education is about to pop off - the space is filled with brilliant minds and hearts. Did you know the modern education system is only 200 years old? Education before then was just for the elite, but technology has democratised access more and more. Heard @hanshanhk talking across different Spaces about the power of EduFi to increase access to learning, and my ex-teacher heart is bursting. 💕

It's just gotten better and better. EDUChain transactions 🤙. @CapyFriends bringing the vibes. OC Hackathon Semester 2 starting soon.

I just know that my reflections this time of year in 2025 is going to be even crazier.

#TOKEN2049 has been fun but I'm now back to being chronically online 😝

My focus for the month ahead with #APE_U @ApeCoinGWG is going to be SUSTAINABILITY. We've built Cohort 1 with a great team, but now we're going to figure out how to sustain the momentum, provide support to alumni, and run more cohorts that can repeat with the same high quality. Most importantly, we're taking an ecosystem view on things: how might education tie together the different aspects of the Ape ecosystem? 🦍😍

Finally managed to explain what a "DAO" is to my Web2 friends, now I'm trying to explain what "#DAOEducation" is all about...

So imagine planning a dinner party with your friends  - someone decides on the dishes, someone buys the ingredients, someone else cooks, someone else brings the vibes...

DAO Education is like teaching people how to organise this collaborative dinner party🌟🥂🍣

It educates members of the DAO community how to cook as a team - identify opportunities, address challenges, adapt to changes, trust each other, and move forward together.

It’s about learning to communicate, sharing responsibilities, understanding the organisation’s goals, and making decisions together.

It's been a blast. Looking back on my journey as proud nerd at @opencampus_xyz, designing the Open Campus Accelerator and now working on #APE_U with #ApeCoinGWG, I'm super excited to share the next big step.

We've been thinking big and going BIGGER - expanding into the node validator system. What's on my mind - let's grow the foundation and give back even more to the OC fam.

I've just put up OCP-9: a $10mil fund to acquire and invest in validator nodes. This isn't just about expansion; it's about creating sustainable yields for all of us who hold it down and keep the wheels turning. 🎡

I'll say this over and over again 👏 it's 👏 all 👏 about 👏 partnerships. We're seeing partners who care about education, who build for the long term. Let's keep making Open Campus the place to be. 🥰

As I'm building #APE_U with @opencampus_xyz and @ApeCoinGWG, I'm gonna be #learninginpublic as I share what I am learning about DAO governance.

Today's post is about optimising for learning, instead of optimising for teaching.

Too often we focus on what we want to say, instead of how others prefer to learn.

🧠 Our brains aren't as big as we'd like to believe. Effective learning experiences care about cognitive load, sequencing, and attention.

Clear governance goes hand in hand with clear education and communication. Let's look at a few great examples of that.
