Helping people whose cats have chronic kidney disease (CKD or CRF) since 2000. Tanya is the blue Persian, Helen is the human who does the research and writing.
Time for my, er, annual tweet. Can't believe I've been running the website for over 22 years now! Where does the time go? So many vets now more proactive when dealing with CKD, which is great news. There will be a cure one day and I'll be redundant, which would be fine.
Just noticed some pms a year old, if not more. So sorry! I don't get on social media very often, and I'm not very good at it when I do. Best to contact me via website if urgent. Please all stay safe.
Of course giving is not at all obligatory! I know this is a very expensive time of year for many, and it is most important that your cats get the care they need.
I wish those whose cats are in crisis the success we had with Thomas, and I wish all of you happy holidays.
Little did I know that CKD would take over my life! Here we are twenty years later, there have been a lot of improvements in the treatments offered, but sadly still no cure in sight. So I expect to be around for a while longer.
Twenty years ago yesterday, my Thomas was diagnosed with CKD. When Tanya was diagnosed, I was not online but by now I was, albeit with painfully slow and expensive dial up. Thomas's BUN was 241 (!), but he pulled through.
I'm not very good at blowing my own trumpet, but here goes. Earlier this year I won an award! @catwriters, @catster, @DrLoSasso, many thanks for awarding me the Catwriters' Association 2018 Lorie Huston Health Award, a real honour.
@smuckers so disappointed that since you moved into the pet food market, it is impossible to obtain meaningful cat food data from you. In the meantime, your competitors happily help me. #wonthelpcats
If you're affected by the imminent downgrading of yahoo!groups and need support for your cat with CKD or FIP, please consider joining the support groups I run at https://t.co/Hl9oXCjjs8. Search for tanyackd and fipcatsupport. https://t.co/Hl9oXCjjs8 offers a great service.
@catster Thrilled and honoured to receive the Cat Writers' Association Lorie Huston Health Award sponsored by your good selves. 😹Thank you very much! And of course many thanks to @CatWriters!

Nobody's favourite part of the site, but I know it helps some people when that dreadful time comes.
It's taken longer than I hoped, but it's finally here: a new edition of my book!
https://t.co/efyKwhAhvw
Also available on other Amazons, and will also be available in book shops in a few weeks.
Hope you all find it helpful.
The website is 18 years old today. Still no cure in sight, but I'll keep the site going while we wait for one to appear. Thanks for all your support over the years, and good luck with your CKD kitties.
@CreateSpace Was going great, thx, until you decided to repeatedly suppress a book that has been available for years, and without even having the courtesy to tell me you had done so. Leaving people with sick cats unable to get the help they need. I am very disappointed. May need @IngramSpark
