@gothxm_xx@Kotaku also this isnt just "game dev union". this is the CWA, like cable installers and stuff.
unrelated people are trying to convince me to give them money so that someone who has never worked in the games industry can fight on my behalf.
the vast majority of all types of devs, atleast in the USA, are anti-union as well.
american devs have had it great relative to most careers
its rough now because ZIRP ended, less money to go around.
making yourself cost more while also having less flexibility and making less money is a really bad thing when there are budget issues.
@flutterwhat@NCyotee@BeanJuiceStudio@valvesoftware i just mean steam rules.
its ok to use codgen and other "productivity" tools without disclosure.
but things consumed by end user cant be ai, and ai makes art from code with CSS and svg's.
seems so arbitrary atm. especially the no localizations part lmao.
@NCyotee@BeanJuiceStudio@valvesoftware even messier with some of the animation systems! they are leveraging gen ai for some, normie RL for others.
is creating keyframes via smarter interpolation a violation?
everytime i ask the clankers i get a difference answer.
everytime i ask steam, nothin.
@chaotic_digital@alightinastorm@threejs modern browsers are pretty good. you can get close on a lot of games, if your able to use wasm for batched calcs.
future browser has a direct path to being nearly the same + portable, by bypassing js
last est i saw was 2030 lol but still
ok saw yall arguing still so i had codex decomp it while aram mayhem
tldr
clanker code
human art.
UI is code; doesnt break rules.
localization probably does, but if you care youre a dick (valve is badguy)
real effort was put in, just not a lot in the UI.---
art:
mostly figma, or created/atleast edited heavily in photoshop lightroom.
seems like free assets from online but hard to tell. either way legal. pic2 is of metadata.
--------
localizations:
i only know american so i cant tell, but id bet they broke the rules here. 10 languages is a lot for any studio, especially a 2 man team on their first game.
it specifically says "Localizations outside of English may not be perfectly translated yet."
if you paid humans, you should either have nothing or have it finished.
but not everyone was born in a country that spoke gods language, and they should be pitied, not excluded. fuck valve.
hella anti-consumer to lump accessibility in with slop.
--------
code/ui:
everything was obfuscated/packed (this is normal, decreases size) so all the typical clanker tracks are gone (emojis, oddly verbose comments, etc), but anyone who uses these a lot can tell that
1) its clanker
2) the person knew what they were doing because clankers dont typically default to setting up cloudflare workers like this.
Deff clanker UI because they always overuse cards, current gen is that dark blueish purple+goldenrod- yellow+really weird green, really odd labels, odd font pairings, etc.
https://t.co/KlyCkEYzca here are some examples of diff models so you can start to see similarities
i tried it myself with a singleshot using 5.5 xhigh since thats deff the one they used.
"make a game like how to feed your blackhole with 3js, its like an incremental idle game with a dense ui fo stuff to do."
8mins later i had same header, same cards, same dots.
humans wouldnt write it like this because the style is bad, and takes a lot of code to do. no one is going to put in more effort to be worse.
the menus etc seem a lot more customized and non-default clanker so if they loved the clanker style they woulda kept it all over.
id rather kill myself than stop using the clankers
but using the clankers to rip off someones original idea is lame.
and they did seem to make the art, or atleast bought it.
Image metadata quick scan: medals/icon/title say Figma; one texture says Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
Classic 7.0 (Windows). No obvious Stable Diffusion/ComfyUI/Midjourney metadata.
its just the ui is all in css so a majority of the "art" that is "consumed" by the .... consumer was generated by a clanker but it doesnt seem like itd break the rules.
No they dont, not anymore.
its only required for specific situations, where your generating things that are directly consumed by the user.
so using to AI to write code, under the new rules from jan. 2026, is fine.
This game was strangely made in electron, so they can use AI to generate the code to make the UI, and it doesnt break the rules
neat loophole. so you can slopfork any popular indie game with ai, and itll be fine as long as you make a really, really bad version (its hard to make art iwth math) lmao
@candyflipline@habibislop i know your type doesnt really go hunting, but we dont typically sit around calling the deer fat and ugly, hoping they kill themselves.
@LLMJunky yeah man didnt think it could get this bad. even hetzner is out of storage. never xferred to the bigger hdd im paying for and now i cant lmao
@MichaelArnaldi@OpenAI yes. not even code just basic functionality.
few hours ago it accidentally killed itself. havent had that happen since like sonnet 3.5
asked about a hydration error and it gave me skincare routine in reasoning trace, then just pretended it didnt happen
keeps spawning 5.4 subs
