@SSSnekxx@pleasentmantis yes the difference is an adult can control their emotions and interact normally in society regardless of whether sarah from 8th grade english said halo was gay
@_AmericanNeet@pleasentmantis the interests of young girls are mocked at least equivalently if not more. remember how people talked about twilight? if being told people hate your interests causes antisocial behaviour with no other mechanisms at work why don’t we see a mass incel movement among teenage girls?
@YKRZ00@cameony1@pleasentmantis you can debate the specifics of how you feel about that but women who get “mad over their bfs playing video games” would probably also get mad if he spend that exact same amount of time working on cars or fishing
@YKRZ00@cameony1@pleasentmantis the point is that they’re not mad at the specific hobby they’re mad he’s not doing more important things in his real life. thought that was pretty obvious
@CringePosted@pleasentmantis do you believe antisocial men are oppressed by women? do you believe women do not face similarly oppressive social conditions?
@CringePosted@pleasentmantis i mean i must apologize for lacking a very deep sympathy for their plight though. i’m just a stupid bitch trying to break the masculine hobbyist spirit just like anita sarkeesian
@niolixm and you are failing to address the central point. if you would see it as wrong to force a toddler to get a piercing, why is it okay for newborns because they won’t remember it as adults, when you don’t remember anything that happens to you as a baby regardless of how harmful?
@YKRZ00@pleasentmantis are they mad at the video games or are they mad at him spending time on a pretty frivolous hobby instead of e.g. doing housework or spending time with his family
@niolixm@clingyuhao also literally why wouldn’t you just wait a couple years. lots of kids will voluntarily get their ears pierced even knowing it’s painful
@niolixm@clingyuhao if you got punched in the face as a baby you probably wouldn’t be bothered by it today either but i don’t go around telling people it’s okay to punch their babies
@niolixm@clingyuhao to an adult there is obviously a difference between piercing a baby’s ears and like punching them or something but the baby just knows it’s getting hurt. it’s causing pain to someone who literally cannot say no or get away for cosmetic reasons
@niolixm@clingyuhao i know. i’m asking you to define what the difference is. is it okay to hurt a baby because they can’t resist? because they won’t remember it?
