sheepstealer puking up and burning a sheep for rhaena like a cat bringing you its kill because it thinks you're a weak little creature that can't do anything made me laugh so bad
and of course hotd isnt obligated to be "realistic," it's telling a story and stories are fake, but im allowed to complain about how unimaginative the writers are and how deeply american their frame of reference for making "sympathetic" political actors is
hotd's biggest problem is that it's too american. like yeah of course everything bad is an accident or a misunderstanding, that's the only framework americans have for understanding war in a way that encourages sympathy for everyone involved
like oops i just accidentally killed a kid :( now we're getting dragged into all-out war with no clear bad guys, everything's just spiraling out of control and we just have to double down even though we didnt cause this at allll
and dany being here makes sense even with only her book feats bc she single-handedly tamed drogon with only a whip and then in her final ADWD chapter he's obeying her even without a whip or any commands 🙂↕️ she's the most specialest girl in the universe, take it up with george
jace and baela protecting each other in battle, rhaena jumping in to protect her home and her complete distress when she realizes sheepstealer is out of control, jace stopping vermax from killing rhaena when he realized who the new dragonrider was.... that's familia 🥹
yeah that's what i assumed too, and im honestly not mad about it. jace still died for his family, he was stupid and impulsive but it was for love of family 🤷🏻
‘House of the Dragon’ showrunner Ryan Condal on why Rhaenyra's youngest children Aegon and Viserys was left out of the Battle of the Gullet episode
“Her youngest children are just not of an age where you can involve them with complex dramatic sequences, complex action. It's not safe, it's not practical. So it was just something that we had to dispense of rather early on in the process.”

peoples inability to interact with media with flawed characters is incredibly frustrating to me. you cant talk or analyze the targaryens without people accusing you of being a dickrider. you can't talk sympathetically about alicent without being thrown a million insults.
