I've always said that the day Square finally decided to release a traditional Final Fantasy, with good old turn-based combat, an overworld map, and the sense of adventure that made the classics so special, it would sell like crazy, outperform its contemporaries, and set a new standard for the franchise going forward.

I honestly thought it would take a mainline entry to achieve that, but it turns out it didn't even need to be one. Final Fantasy Resonance has already done exactly that, and it absolutely deserves the praise.

I just hope Square Enix takes notice and applies these lessons to the next games in the franchise.
