@That_Nerd_Guy_@AHalfNickel Playing right now, I was stuck for almost an hour on sazh's one 😭. And I even installed mods to make crystarium better/easier and monsters actually drop stuff to upgrade weapons
I have some friends that always think I'm crazy when I say all of the Rance superfans I've ever met are women. Women go feral for this man. They think of the series and think of the [🍇] dialogue options not realizing Rance is a feminist icon.
Dark romance should be about romance in dark settings. I wanna see survivors finding love in a zombie apocalypse. I wanna see two serial killers becoming partners. Instead it’s just domestic violence with a Gucci purse
“You can’t decompile video games and sell people new products composed of old intellectual properties.”
Brother my president insider trades daily and none of my peers will own a house until 40.
A child not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it’s warmth.
Japanese people: "We don't want foreigners here who don't respect our culture."
Foreigner living in Japan: "See? Japanese are xenophobic far-right!!"
You're the reason...
If I ran a game studio, I wouldn't send out DMCAs. I'd be shipping SDKs.
AI will decompile all the games. The only choice left is whether it happens with you or around you.
Open source the code for anything older than a few years. Worried about piracy? id Software did this with Doom in 1997. It still runs on everything and people still buy it.
Let the fans port your iconic gaming classics using assets from copies they purchased. You keep selling the game without paying for a remaster.
Give modders a storefront and revenue share. Hire the best ones. Sega did that for Sonic Mania and got one of the best reviewed Sonic games of all time. Valve let Black Mesa sell on Steam.
Fans get remasters sooner. Studios get to focus on shipping what's next, and IPs keep a community that's willing to pay for it.
Fight your fans or fund them. Your move.
I don't like the “fiction effects reality” argument because it's essentially assuming your morality is either so low or so weak that seeing something depicted in fiction, written on paper, or shown on a screen will effect your morals and how you interact with the real world.
FF is very awkward because anytime the series does anything that could be remotely unique and interesting, people throw a fit and it gets retconned out of the series.
Maybe the reason racism feels a little different in Japan is that Japanese people have perfected a much simpler approach.
Basically, we don’t really want to deal with anyone.
Japanese, American, Chinese, European, rich, poor, loud, quiet… honestly, none of that matters much.
Our selection process is surprisingly fair.
We simply don’t want to bother each other.
So we bow. We keep our voices down. We follow countless little social rules. And we keep a comfortable distance from strangers.
It’s not hostility.
We just find it easier when everyone stays out of everyone else’s way.
Millions of people are already packed onto this tiny island.
In a country like that, “please leave me alone” may have quietly evolved into a form of politeness.
