My new feature film RENT FREE is world premiering at @tribeca in the U.S. narrative competition. A new kind of buddy comedy starring an ensemble cast full of friends and fellow filmmakers. Keep an eye out for it this June!
part of the reason i’m very hard on these content creators that are making reasonably financed movies is because i watch a lot of really extraordinary microbudget debuts from young filmmakers all over the place and these works get very little air time
favorite first watches of july:
rent free (fernando andrés)
ascension of the demonoids (george kuchar)
coming attractions (liz purchell)
no sleep till (alexandra simpson)
AMAZING NEWS you can now watch RENT FREE (the first movie I ever acted in) on Amazon Prime!!!!!!!! It’s premiered at Tribeca and I’m so happy you guys can finally watch it :)
In RENT FREE (B+), two BFFs in Austin, Texas find their close friendship put through the wringer. In MATERIALISTS (C), an ambitious NYC matchmaker finds herself torn between two different men. My @miamiartzine reviews: https://t.co/bFe5lIwFm3 @CinephobiaR@fernandofromtx
Rent Free (dir. Fernando Andrés)
One of the funniest films of the year. I didn't write anything about it, but as a part of the programming team at Heartland FF, was able to contribute a little bit to its exposure. Another shoutout to @francomos turn as a horny professor.
Lance Oppenheim, who recently directed the HBO documentary series “Ren Faire,” is working with A24 and Robert Pattinson to develop his first feature film. https://t.co/6ps6y49wDg
"Such a deft balance of irony & warmth is hard to come by in contemporary cinema; we should cherish it."
